- I don't fear Mantz, despite his powerfull and lethal joke/chat ingame tactical distractions;
- I don't fear the Vampire, period (is there any frankenstein out there?);
- etc. etc. etc.

But hey, I was refering to "normal" pilots; lets talk now about the "not normal" pilots! So, now there is one that I DO FEAR! She scares me to my bones, and I am not joking, I really mean it!!!! I fear her even when she is in blue!!!!

She is deadly, ferocious, and more important: she doesn't chat ingame!!! She doesn't get distracted, she plays like a machine, a robot, she is pure killing-instinct, she doesn't care about doing nothing but shoot you, bomb you and win the game!!!! Think about a REAL NIGHTMARE! Yeah, my list of "real aces" have just one very name: Desert Rose.

Yes, Desert Rose instills fear in me when I'm not even playing. I pull my phone out of my pocket, think about dogfighting, and a cold chill runs down my spine.

Pluribus....I don't know if others were being sarcastic to you about calling you an ace....However, your friend Swoppy is being honest and calls you an ace...When you play and aren't parked on runway or wherever, your one amazing bomber....

Don't let others bring you down....you have made some amazing strides in your "attitude"..I have even seen you perform in the air even when outnumbered...you may say comments of frustration...but I have seen a better attitude....

Pluribus...I do get frustrated when you park, give up or negative....However, I'm your BIGGEST FAN....Just work on being even MORE positive and NEVER give up even when your outnumbered....ALWAYS do your best....

Yes that is the point of this thread. To find out what makes an ace an "ace" i would have to agree about desert rose. She is one of the most respected yet feared players in the game. She plays with honor and can kill anything that moves in the game. She is one to tip ur hat in respect. Thanks for that post ped

Ya know, there are alot of good players and you have managed to list most of them. However, if I had to pick a top 3, "the ace of aces list" it would be in order:

1)Blue Max: He is so good, I accuse of him of using a big screen everytime (out of envy). Not only is Max the best sniper, he is also the best in DF chase.

2)Davy Crockett: Just like the real Davy Crokett, he wears a coon hat and a mean attitude. DC will shoot ya before you can say "nice mullet".

3) Ender Mom: Ya know, when some players enter as red, ya just go..awwww shiiii*** Ender is the fastest sniper period. Accurate as a Rolex and quicker on the draw than John Wayne on crack, Ender lives up to his name each time he ends you...and then the game.

There are of course many, many others who are probably all up on here but I haven't had a chance to play enough against them to know. This is just my personal experience so far. And the fact they are all MOM's is in no shape or form biased...it's just happens to be the group of guys who I want to Noush most badly

Ahhhhh yes, Miss Desert Rose. Love flying with her, even more against her. Faceing her help me get bettet and slightly faster every time. Maybe one day ill be able to make a full turn and get away from her. As for head on, i dont stand a chance. I watched her shoot the wings off a bumble bee all the way across the map. then tore me open like a can of sardines. now does she scare me? Well hell yeah, but i welcome her. Oh and Miss Hell too. Never, ever been afraid women till i met them.

Only issue I have with Rose is she almost never finishes a game. Bails 9 out of 10 times.

This is my opinion, MAX is number 1, for sure, no one could deny that. Let me tell you why, he's good in every game and i do mean every game.

I on the other hand have games where all i have to do is to point my nose at a red and they just fall and then i have games where i can't even hit the ground. I guess it all depends on my wifi or internet connection, i don't know. From listening to all the other players they also have games where they can't hit anything, unlike MAX (i wonder what kind of connection he has and devise)

I don't think there is a number 2 because all of the players listed above and others not listed are so close in ability that it all depends on the particular game they are in. So MAX is one and the other players are all tied for number 2.

Then you have some players that you cannot allow to tank because they are so good.

This sort of list is inevitably doomed to be an exercise in omissions although it's harmless fun and nice to toss some acknowledgement around.

Still, I don't see anyone previously singled out here as a viable threat to SB467. There isn't a better all around player, certainly not a better dogfighter/chaser, in my entire experience in Dogfight. I'd square off with any four of these others, as skilled as they are, rather than him alone.

It has nothing to do with his being a First Generation M.O.M. He isn't active on our thread, doesn't even wear his squad tag...he just beats the bejeezis out of anyone else I've ever played with or against. Including the three or four hundred "aces" you've left out of these lists. No mschumacher? No Lesa two dots? Did I really not see MBizzi's name anywhere? Again, it's a fun distraction, Kestrel, thanks for taking the time...but such a list is likely to never be complete or definitive. Too much subjectivity and too many variables...and too many exceptional players we may not even know about. Yet.

That is so true wig. The list will just continuevto get bigger and bigger over the ages. It will be quite a job keeping up with everyone. There is so many fanominal pilots around here. Its so hard to remember them all. I just love to hear everyones opinion on the topic on what they consider ace material in the game, whether it be their rank, attitude, or just plain skill. Its fun to c what everyone thinks. The list is mearly everyones soul opinion on who they believe is an ace. I believe, like so many havealready said, that everyone has an ace in them and everyone is good in their own way.

The problem with this list is that so many of the original players, the OGs, were phenomenal. , Not a single slouch. Mbizzi, Vamp, Bunny Bunny, Bran Strachan. Most don't play anymore, and most played without the aid of the bigger devices or better connection speeds that so many enjoy now. You had to learn to fight or you died quickly and often. Maybe its just me being grouchy and old but I don't think most of the "list" could have held a candle to those guys. This list looks more like a popularity contest or Facebook friends list to me. Nazis STILL bothers me and I dread him showing back up one day.

I don't think you can really make a "list"

It's a subjective thing. New players come and develop skills. Old players leave. The game evolves (some good and some bad)

You can't go off stats or rank in game. Both can be inflated or give a false sense of a player. There are DF skills, bombing skills, sniping skills, tanking skills, offensive skills, defensive skills its a long list.

Very flattering to make so many folks list though. Thank you all. You are some of my favorite team mates. Will you please quit shooting me and let me bomb your stuff?

So this thing has had me thinking since you started it Kes. You asked the question "what makes a real ace?" Here is what I think.

An ace for me is a player that I really like to have as a team mate. One that I go "ugh" when they show up in red and smile when they show up in blue. One that sticks to the bitter end. Win or lose. Never leaves you hanging. One that switches sides if you are out numbered. One that leaves a game that they are in when they see you are out numbered. One that parks and takes a break in a lop sided game till the odds even out. One that doesn't camp and SK you after a run. These things make an ace for me. Not necessarily the playing ability but sometimes it is. It would be easier to make a list of players that I don't like to play with. There is already a name and shame thread though.

Blue i think u hit the nail on the head with that post. I love it, what u discribed sounds to me like what a real ace should be. To me qce is about honor, trust, attitude, kindness, and humility. To me thats an ace, not skill, everyone gains skill, even in the real world, 5 kills and bam ur an ace. But there is no thought about anythint else. Just kills. Thats y i started this tyread. I want to c what everyone thinks make an ace.

Love the inputs ive got too. Helps me look at the game through other eyes, not just my own. Thx guys.

I think we should be making a list o those who have great potential to be aces, the younger people. I could name a few of those for sure. Even though im not exactly an "older" player myself.

I think the interesting part of this is that your personal list shrinks as you get better. There were a lot of pilots I hated flying against originally but as you get better some of the fear goes away. Still, I could probably list 10 pilots that I simply hate seeing come up as red. You know it will be a tough game and you know your stats will suffer.

But I started thinking about the pilots that I just can't touch at times and came up with two (both have been mentioned).

The first is Sky Davis.

The second is Blue Max.

I think both of these guys are in a separate class and in both cases I have to adjust my approach when they are in the air.

With respect to the upcoming Squad Wars changes (believe it when I see it), the MOM squad actually has an entire section of their tactics manual dedicated to Sky Davis. We have specific formations and specific priorities when he is in the air. He's the only pilot where we've taken the time to carve out a section simply just to defeat him. It will be interesting to see if our planning works, but knowing Sky we'll be needing to add to the manual as soon as the wars begin.

I have to say the best ace and fighter pilot i ever met was Wut Up Dogfight. He could turn like hell if he needed to. He usually did not have to mess with turn fighting because he shoot you down in a head on no matter what you did. You dropped a bomb and did loops turns twist trying to get him in a turn fight no problem he killed you just with a 2 second delay. He would just stroll in guns pumping out lead hardly ever missing bomb your hangers turn around and leave and do it all over again. To bad he dose not play anymore but he is one guy who played this game that i will never forget his name. In my opinion now days the best head to head shooters only reach about to half of what he could do in a head on.

Now my opinion on who an ace is would be anyone who is determined enough to stick with game despite how hard it is to get started and killing in the game. Anyone who sticks with it and continues to become better and better at is an ace in my opinion. Anyone who dose that is bound to be considered an ace at some time by many or few people. Even if they are considered an ace for only one day they have become an ace. There are to many aces in the game to mention them all.
From a simplified view of an ace it is a guy that in some games is doing enough stuff causing enough trouble for the reds or the team against him that they make him a main target. They decide to take him out before they get the other guys because he is the biggest threat.
That's my few cents and cup of tea.
