Dave, as I said in an earlier post, she currently has 28 students on her case loads and needs several tablets. She started with the original grant for one iPad. She has since started another grant through the same organization. I didn't plug it here, because I felt the DF community went above and beyond and didn't want to appear as if I was trying to take advantage of the forum.

However Dave, If you are interested in participating here's a link. Donorschoose.org is matching donations again for the next few days with the "inspire" code. We also discovered that donors can elect not to automatically contribute the 15% that is automatically allotted to the organization. Which means the entire contribution goes to the cause.

www.donorschoose.org/we-teach/1723151

I sincerely appreciate the response and do not wish to push this on everyone again. I'm just posting in response to Dave's post.

Which pad is the case for? She can use the other donations for the next pad.
I can never do enough for my "adopted" family.
Besides, I got the zip already.

To everyone that helped out with my wife's project, thanks again. She thought you might like to see your contributions in action. It took a little while, because we had to get permission to share images of the children with the donors from their parents, but below are some of the kids with their new resources

She is using it as one of her "centers" and the kids love it. Thanks guys, you made a difference for these kids.

She is well on her way for the second one through the same organization, www.donorschoose.org
They really are great way for folks like my wife to reach out. They have even given her another match code, "heart", so that when anyone donates and enters the code, the donation is matched (doubled) by the organization.

Thanks for the photos. After I ordered and received the case, my physical therapist showed me one she uses with her kids. It's much better for the purpose. It's cute as cake, too.
So, I sent the first back. The second one should be there soon. It's called an iGuy. Google it.

Mango,ok?

Paul,
I've decided I can't do anything to stop you, but really you've done so much already, that's really not necessary. Thank you again brother. Mango? Color? I'm sure they won't mind that at all. And the yellowish/orange on my wing feathers are Mrs Parrot's fav!

Ok one of you turkeys helped out, thank you very much. However, you did so pseudo anonomously. Didn't leave a name, but made a parrot reference in the online message. It was pretty substantial as well, so much so that her latest project is $60 away(with the matching code). I really do appreciate the act and the thought, but would like to know to whom to direct my gratitude. If you do not wish to post it here, please PM me and I promise to keep it on the down low.

Thanks again Mr/Ms ???? and everyone else that has helped.

PH,
It finally arrived. This thing is nice. I have to see if they make one for my Kindle. It will probably help my DF abilities.
I hope it helps to keep their new IPad safe.
You & the Mrs. can "discuss" the 2 extras (Jimmy Buffett wishes he had these) in the box. The logo on 1 is a winch. The other is from my boat builder.
I will mail Express tomorrow, so it should be there Monday or Tuesday.
Paul

Only $126 to go for second IPad. COME ON FOLKS...

Paul,

Thanks again. You are really too kind. I will pass the message on to Mrs Parrot. Yeah, she is real close on her next one, thanks to some "anonymous" donor. I'm sure he/she is from the forum, but have not disclosed their identity. Thank you whoever you are.

I have stop posting to this thread because so many have already done so much. I appreciate it, but seriously do not want ask or appear to be asking for anything else. She will get the next one when it happens. The kids are now using the first one. They have to share and take turns, but that's not a bad thing. She says it is making a real difference for some and its a real motivator for others. The incentive of having a turn is a unseen benefit.

Thanks again Paul,
PH

For all of you that help support this little project, here's a few more pics. The young lady in the photos has an amazing story. Out of respect for the privacy of her and her family, I will not give specific details. However, I will say a few things. She is 6 and has survived a condition that takes the lives of most victims before or shortly after birth. She is confined to a wheelchair and has a shadow that follows her throughout the day to attend to her needs and keep her safe from unintentional injury. She is only 2 feet tall, a tiny little thing a d cute as a buttom. Although she is challenged in ways that would make most of us throw in the towel, she is almost happy and upbeat and really the sweetest child! She is definitely one of Mrs. Parrot's favorite students of all time. This project has made a difference for her and you all helped. I just thought y'all might like to see your support in action.

Paul I like to say you are one heck of a guy. You are by far my favorite M.O.M. The look on that little girls beautiful face says a thousand words! I just want to reach through the screen and give her a big hug. It's good to know that there are good people like you out there. I'm a big fan. I'm so glad I found dogfight, there are lots of good people on this site!

I am constantly amazed by the DF community. Thanks guys, you're awesome.

Below is a message from Mrs. Parrot:

My students are going to be THRILLED that we have another iPad for the classroom!  They have been using the one we have for spelling, handwriting practice, math, reading, and communication skills.  Some of my students have difficulty concentrating or even using a writing utensil so this has been a true blessing for them.  Having technology that makes their lives easier is helping them overcome some of the difficulties they face every day.  Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts!
