I remember how hard it was to fly. Coming off the runway and then just crashing; spawning and then coming off the runway and then just crashing; and then if I managed to actually stay up I got shot down almost instantly. That was pretty much how my first 10 (maybe more) games went. And the very first fighter I shot down was by accident. I also shot at blue my very first game and got the statement that I give to first timers, “shot red”. Oh man, I had no clue. I was like the most greenhorn of all greenhorns.

I also thought that I could outmaneuver the Albatross or the S.E.a5’s. by flying in circles; needless to say, it did not take me very long to figure out that it was a BAD IDEA. Then I got to the point where it seemed like I would just wing everyone but never shoot anyone down and I would get shot down relentlessly. I ended some games with a 2 – 20 record. I nearly gave up playing this game at that point.

And I could just forget a carrier landings. That was just bad news for me for a long time. I still nose flip an odd time here and there. Nothing like a good nose flip to keep you humble. I also remember flying the wrong way a couple of times and nearly bombing my own base. I never did though. I was fortunate in that the times that I did fly the wrong way, I noticed blue planes on the runway taking off. I’d think to myself, “Hmmm that’s odd”; then I looked on the map and noticed that I was about to bomb a blue base and aborted. Came close a couple of times though.

And then there was always the AC’s, BG’s and G’s that came flying in shooting all over creation like they’ve got a turret on both sides of the plane spraying death in all directions. I always stuck with those games though.

Anyways, just reminiscing. Anyone remember they’re Aspirant days? Any Aspirants want to share their grief?

I would have to agree with many of your experiences. I had many of the same and actually did walk away from the game for a couple of weeks. Tried another dogfight game but kept coming back here. I didn't know why at the time but soon came to realize it was the people. They would talk to you and help you. Essentially teach you how to beat them.

I remember my days I took off good but it was hard turning and I always crashed I gave up for like a week then returned to get my very first kill and guess what it was in a tank !!!!guys name was blain.
Then the i just got the sensation every time I shot a plane down. Then the miserable era hit which is when I was constantly getting shot down. Luckly I'm getting out of that area now

When I was an aspirant, I played my first few games with Mbizzi. I have no idea what kind of games they were, I couldnt tell the difference. So, Mbizzi was always on the opposing team, which, to even top aces, is terrifying. I couldnt tell the difference in rank, I just knew he was good. It took me forever to figure out if the crossed swords or stars for rank insignia was better, considering how few Major Generals there were back then. It was a rare treat to see one. So anyway, Mbizzi kinda singlid me out in a couple games cuz I was chatty, and we became friends, and most people subconsiously single out people they know. He vaporized me, naturally. Instead of giving up, I fought him head on, which is his specialty. Eventually I won, and he was my first kill ever. Always play the aces, you learn quick.

I sisnt get my firat kill untill rank 4. I was horrible as an aspirant. And blain is preety cool boss, he counts everytime he kills me. So far he has killed me 14times. He is decent head on. And I never had anyone to help me like u calvin.
The first game I ever played was with samweb, he spwn killed me alot 0-30. I got him back for every single kill he got out of me. And the second was ever was the best game ever. With srg rock, tony69, thunderstorm, crazynut- none play anymore. Well they do just rarely.

Thats a part of my life i would rather forget.......lolololololol.

I qouldnt want to forget. If I had then I wouodnt have gotton back at sam. And to tell how bad I was. I didnt have 1 kill average even when I got on top 100. Had like around3/4. And qyertiffiess or something he is back

Oh don't I remember bomb my base I wish it seemed to me I was doing good to Evan hit the map with a bomb lol I was doing good to be going the right direction I got my first kill in my first game by accident I took off with my thumb locked to the trigger and someone happen to be coming strait at me I thought to myself well this isn't to hard boy was I wrong I remember the point when I first started talking and making friends after that it dint matter how bad I was in a game I still had fun one pilot stands out in my mind as the one to teach me a lot and that was bomber he showed me a lot directly and indirectly (by continual shooting my but down) good friends and good times

Some times I regret helping some people. because now they give me a hard time killing them and they kill me. Like dentinhead, dawson, u, hoop, and anyone else. I dont really care that much because I am really good friens with them. And dent has been abused the most. Ironically every time I am spawn killing dentin head joins. especially today.

HAHAHAHHA was great fun Bomber. You had me laughing so hard I could hardly hold the phone. My eyes were watering... The spawn killing actually helps me learn how to take off and to watch when you go buy.. power halfway brake on you get close power full... you go by... brake off and take off cross runway and drop bomb...Then try to lock on.....with you it's see how long I can last lolololo. Was a lot of fun bomber....ohhh and OH my GOD took me down mercifully many times today too lolololo.... I had a good day.. game is great fun with many good people...

I remember it, like it was tomorrow. I knew it was not going to be a good day, when on the way to the flight line I was chased by a cow. My take off was too slow and I almost hit the cow. After 20 minutes in the air, I came across 22 of the enemy. It was difficult, but I had survived! Unfortunately, I was too fast on landing. I could not stop. And yes, I hit the cow! Now, don't cry about YOUR bad day!

Lol, mbizzi didnt really teach me, I learned to kill him out of need, not cuz he showed me how to.

I joined years ago when there were not ranks yet ranks are reetivly new.

I Hated those days...which was 3 weeks ago lol I got my first kill on my 7th game...its was a luitenent...he waz all like "ugh ftw killed by a noooooooob." And I waz allz like "Ummmmmy you a Noob too!"

Y'know -- Dogfight is a lot like dogfighting during The Great War. I mean, most pilots had an extremely high chance of death the first month of flight. Because nothing can train you for combat. However, after that period of time -- their survival chances sharply rose.

Same thing with Dogfight and why The Enigma Corps raised our rank-cap to Rank 5. It's about right there you start getting the hang of things and really get a grasp of what's happening around you.
