Two things you can do, first read through the various squad threads and see which seem to fit you, and if you can abide by their rules. Then read if they have a specific recruiting process. But know most squads have a minimum level to join their squad.

The other thing is to just fly and be friendly with the other players. Let them see how you handle yourself, and they may invite you to join. This is the best way to do it.
