Hello,

How can I learn to fly better? The training missions were OK, but are there any well known tricks to shake someone off my tail?

Is it really possible to slam on the brakes and cause someone on your 6 to fly by you?

I often try to outfly a chaser but it usually doesn't work.

Please let me know. Thanks!

Regards,

Galahad

I always do a corkscrew dive. You just keep turning and dive down and when close to ground pull up.I also turn in a circle and we circle each other till the other gets bored or reinforcements arrive.Sometimes i do a loop or a dive but you can create your own tactics.I came up with mine like that.If none of mine work for you, parachute out!
our gracious Queen, Long live our noble Queen, God save the Queen! Send her victorious, Happy and glorious, Long to reign over us, God save the Queen!

the best thing to do is play play play watch what other pilots do especially the higher
ranking pilots.
also different devices make things handle in different ways.
are you playing with the joystick or movement control.
movement control is alot better when using a mobile phone.
when in the game have a good look around by running your fingers over the screen
see whats about gives you a better plan of attack.
dont just chase around all over the place set yourself up on one plane destroy move onto the next.
ask when in a game as well most wiil give advice whilst playing
see you in the skies :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

If theyre close enough, yeah, i cut the throttle and they shoot past me. It works, and they die. Watch people in game for help. :)

Ktheo,

Thanks for taking the time to reply and advise. I'll try to observe some tactics and copy them.

YES! with so many spawnkillers hanging out at runways with tanks, that's a valid point.

When You're being shot at from behind, go to 3rd person view, and if the bullets are grouped together mostly around one of your wings, then tilt your plane accordingly, it may not save you, but every one of the enemy's missed bullets is one wasted and probably not going into your friends' planes. Also, when you're doing the gunning, turn down the throttle, you'll be more accurate and less likely to overshoot and become the hunted yourself if they slow down. this also allows you to put more bullets into the zeppilin before needing to turn off, in fact in zeppilin games, climb way up above at least 1.5-2,000 ft up it and kill the engine. Then, you'll get a lot of time to light it up on the way down. :)
And finally, if you want, the enemy to waste some bullets, corkscrew while going up and down ( EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AT LOW ALTITUDES)

Yeah, the snake dance is good, especially against mid level players. Most of the top aces can beat it after a minute.

Yeah, I really impressed Mick Mannoc yesterday by cutting my throttle and busted his plane. I think it was mick... Lol, someone. Its a good move. :)

Anyone had success with traditional air combat maneuvers? I found the old barrel roll and scissors maneuver to work when you aren't shot up.

Barrel roll is great against most people. Aces can beat it, but it's an improvement.

Here is a little fun thing to try.

When in a lightly attended mission or DF and no one close.
Tail slide. (Point straight up and cut throttle.)
Outside view will help.
Try to see how far down you can keep it balanced.
Then, try to lightly apply throttle to hover.
No quick movements and you'll be amazed how long you can hold it.

Another fun thing to try is:
Go high...3-4 thousand. Drop your bomb and try to match it's speed on the way down.
Get good and you can land it in your cockpit. Be careful though or you'll spill your coffee!

I've never tried hovering, but I love doing the bomb thing. It's really fun to do. :P I'll definitely try to do the hover thing, though.
