I see 'em every day, but I've never thought about it before. Does anyone know the significance of these icons on the forum?

Why do some pins and paper have a green star? Some don't?

It seems the phone means that no response has been made to the post, but I don't get the connection.

The "phone" symbol is for threads which have not received any responses yet.

The thumb tack is for a thread which has been "stickied" so that it stays at the top of whatever section it belongs to.

A green star means that there are new responses to that thread since the last time you logged in to the forum. There will also be a green number below the thread topic showing how many new responses there are.

There is also a gray flag which appears next to any topic to which you have previously responded.

Since were on this topic, can someone elaborate on what dictates the level of the 'Boarder'? Example: expert, plantinum ect... What does this all mean? How does this work or stand for? Thx:)

De-ja-vu? Finn, your exact question was posted around 3 weeks ago by McFate if my memory serves me correctly. I may be mistaken as several pints of Cider and several sleep sessions have occurred since then! He also replied with the same response, 'Thanks for changing my phone into paper'.

I wonder how many posts across the entire forum exist asking identical questions?

I reckon the number could be in the region of at least twelvety! ;)

I'll have some of that cider, please. :)

Great minds... Mine is just 3 weeks slower to greatness than McFate's.

Does anyone know the answer to the Dr.'s question about the post ranking?

The post rankings are derived simply from the amount of posts you have made, so theoretically you could start a new post and reply to yourself a few hundred times and become a platinum boarder within a few hours. Not sure of the number of posts needed to advance to each level, but when all is said and done, who really cares? ;)

Well, I care. That bastard, Disrupt, is starting to beat me at everything - even forum rankings.

Thanks Mr. King

The "forum rankings" are listed toward the end of this post: (I can't quote the chart because the thread is locked)

*Read before posting* Forum Rules/Etiquette (This thread has been locked and stickied to the top of the Gossip section.)

And as far as who cares?... There is actually a rule against "padding your post count" in the terms of use:
Privacy Policy and Terms of Use
Under "General rules": "Multiple or repeated posting in order to increase your post count is not allowed. Advertising, spamming and trolling is not allowed."

So be careful! Don't even think of spamming to increase your post count! (Oh, but spawnkilling is okay.)
JK- sort of. ;)
