I agree with my buddy, you do have to aim higher than the enemy aircraft itself to score hits, but there’s a bit more to it than that.
Bullet trajectory also depends on the angle you fly at - for example, if you point downwards the bullets go directly down, as that’s the direction of gravity, but if you go up and shoot the curve is much sharper.
Also, one more thing to know of -
Leading
Leading, or deflection is the practice of shooting ahead of a moving target, so the target flies into the bullets or they meet at a point. It’s only needed at long distances and if the target moves enough so the bullet takes more time to reach

Here’s a visual representation of what I mean; if I aim the white circles directly at this bomber, they’d miss by a lot. However if I aim the white crosshair somewhere within this red circle I marked, the bullets will hit and I score the kill
