Lafayette Escadrille doesn't have any concerns about this squadron size-limit since we have a self-imposed historically-based cap of 38 pilots in order to honor the original Valiant 38
I have however reserved the right as both Squadron Leader & creator to add an additional 5 pilots (corresponding to the 5 French officers that also flew with the squadron) later on if I feel the need.
But I do commiserate with both the long established squadrons like M.O.M. & Misfits and others that have a large
family of flyers as well as some of the newer squadrons like Gunners Inc. and others that have recruited lots of pilots so as to give themselves some depth and provide a presence in the game that also allows them to grow.. I feel sorry that any of you have to consider splitting up or making up associate squadrons or whatever in order to adhere to
zuperman's mandate.
I assume it's a mathematical or programming requirement for Squadron Wars that drives imposing that squadron size limit cap, but as others have wondered.. why?
I have to guess that it is entirely linked to the actual FORMAT of Squadron Wars.
If the cap exists because it's because of 'averaging' players statistics within each squadron so as to provide a ranking based on those statistics, it definitely helps out small squadrons such as mine who have a high percentage of good & active pilots.
If the rankings in Squadron Wars are based on (as I hope!) squadron vs squadron - 4 vs 4 battles, then why any size cap at all?
I guess we don't know enough about the format of the upcoming Squadron Wars to make any intelligent comments or suggestions to
zuperman until we actually know what he has coming.. it's quite possible it is absolutely NOTHING even remotely close to what we have envisioned!
