Moraf?

There was a time when this "title" was sort of an unreachable accomplishment, a place where only very skilled players could put their feet.

But even an idiot like me can do it, now faster than never. Kind of trivial, "hackneyed", banal thing. I could name hundreds (thousands?) of players that are lower-rank than me but are WAY more skilled than me. So, rank is NOTHING, as many people aready said.

Yeah, I am being quite repetitive. So, lets go to the point of this thread:

I am thinking about giving a "prize" for the best player of the year. No, no money prize. I am a poor man. And I live in a jungle. So, not able to send anyone any gift by fedex. My only humble gift will be sent by e-mail... "What?"

Explaining: I am a cartoonist (a better cartoonist than my ugly banner makes you believe - it was made roughly). So, my proposal is to check the forum's ranking on November 30, 2013, to see who I will condecorate. I will request a photograph from the winner to be able to make the cartoon. It is going to be a high-resolution drawing, to be used the way the winner wants (on t-shirts, on big prints, wathever). I insist: I will make the drawing, save it in a high-resolution image file and send it to the winner by e-mail. I will not print it. No t-shirts. No mugs. Only a file.

I assure you, it will be fun.

Lets go now for the general guidelines:

Based on what I said in the introduction, I will not give it necessarily to the player ranked at #1 on the oficial ranking. It may be the case, but not NECESSARILY.

Explaining: I am assuming the fact that a good player is someone with a good K/D ratio, and perhaps I may put the number of victories and crashes into the equation. Perhaps. For this one, I will need some colaboration. ParrotHead's spreadsheets will be handy. Other's suggestions and files and criticism will be well accepted also. I will update this regularly until then.

Please, let me know what you guys have in mind.

And for those that feel like serious candidates for the prize: don't shoot me, cuz I will make my own "blacklist"... (erm... kidding, of course)!

Well Ped, there's no way I can even be within a couple hundred positions of that spot by your deadline , but this is a pretty awesome gesture on your part.

Saw a photo of you once on the "Faces of Dogfight" thread and your caricature is spot on. You have a lot of talent and the Number One guy will be very fortunate to get this prize.

Could I put out a suggestion for determining the top spot? How about "Number of hours spent baby-sitting an aircraft carrier" in CTC games? At least then I'd have an outside shot!

I'm out.... I was spawnkilled relentlessly at the beginning of the game, so bad, that my kills didn't pass my death's till I was almost a MORAF... I'd end up with 70 death's or more in a game and 0 kill's....


I still had fun...

To make things clear:

The prize will not go for the highest rank, nor for the highest number of kills!!!!!

What I will consider is, mostly, the division of the number of kills by the number of deads, perhaps in sort of an equation that, EVENTUALLY, may consider other variables, like crashes and/or wins.

Of course, I will need to take in consideration a minimum amount of points, to prevent the prize to fall in the hands of a "noob" that eventually manages to create an account and, in his first games, reach, say, 80 kills and just one death, making a whoopy ratio. We can develop this idea in the next months.

By the way, Dent, don't feel ashamed. My K/D ratio, for example, will ALWAYS be less than 1... lol

The Best Player in DF is ME! Yes, he is the best Df Player!

The best DF player is within each and every one us! Why you say, not one person and one person alone can win a game by himself unless he is playing that game by himself. Well unless it is FFA, that is a different story, they will be playing it by themselves for a long time only killing time. You also need other players to better yourself. Savvy!

So to wrap it up, or summarize, we all contribute our own individual best in a game to win that game.

After all this drama around Roo`s bann, I am sort of tired.
And M4rtin`s words and Kevy`s pm made me think.

I should point many reasons for changing my mind and abandon this idea. But as I am typing on a tiny screen, using an irritating virtualkeyboard, I will tell just one and good reason:

How can I spend hours of hard work to make a cool drawing to a player that probably can be someone I dont even chat, and not make a cartoon for, say, Paul "The Man" Mantz? Anf if I make a drawing for Mantz, I would feel in need to make drawings for at least other 16 other great friends I have here. (Hmm... 17... no, 19!)
So, sorry, guys, but for fairplay sake, and for other reasons I prefer not to talk about now, I changed my mind.

Since no one seems to be nominating anyone below rank 27, ill nominated a couple of good players:

1. blackstar (rank 10-12, I played in a good game with him a while ago, and I forgot his complete name and rank)

2. rfg, (rank 14, enigma)

Obviously, they aren't going to have some crazy 3/1 k/d or something, but they are good and have a lot of potential, and should be recognized.

Blue Max is the best. Beginning and end of story. I still think he uses a 48" screen but thats just my envy talking . He is as good as it gets, period.
