I did not think roo would ride bikes I thought sports bikes were for youngsters, not mean old men

Yes the biking season has started late here in the uk as im a bit more of a fair weather rider.

Ive always had a soft spot for the Blackbird,an outstanding sports tourer.It used to be the most powerfull production bike until Suzuki launched the Hayabusa.Did you know that a Hayabusa is a bird which preys on Blackbirds?Cleverly named.

Breaking my rule and posting on this one. This is my ride. I put a pic on the MOM thread a while back. It's in Austin getting redone. I have no place to tear it down here. Sould shine like a new penny when I get it back. Going from the ground up. A little shorter ape hangers, different pipes, one piece tank, springer front end, and any thing that Is scratched, rusty, or doesnt shine is out. The paint will be done to. I'm taking off that silly number. I think i will stay with the flat black though. 93 soft tail custom. Chicks dig it. when I get it back I will put up a new pic. It's almost time to ride here so I'm ready to get it back.

Rich did you get hurt in that crash? It looks a little rough?

Man nice rides everyone! Seeing these pics has me chomping at the bit to hit the twisties That looks like one hell of a wreck richy. Glad you're ok. Davy, don't send them to a bar when you can send them a little east into the Smokies to ride the Dragon . I haven't gotten the chance yet but it's on my list of future trips. I'll be taking my bike out real soon, and yes mean old men do ride sportys!

Davy, I didnt bounce to well that day, my birthday treat was to go out pillion for the day to Boxhill bike meet, was about 50 rural miles on a beautiful February morning. We only made half way when a lovely woman driver T-boned us resulting in my first flying lessons.

My stepdad (Rider) received ligament damage to his knee and I received a smashed left femur, a hole the size of a tennis ball in my left knee and my right tibia burst out of my skin front and rear!

Plated femur and three long operations to seal my knee, one month in hospital immobile, three months in wheel chair, two days on zimma frame and about 6 months on crutches!

All in all, wasn't the best birthday ever.

Great pictures everyone, a lot of lovely bikes, max, don't particularly like the style of bike but look forward to seeing it all finished.

Edit. As for not being sport bike type, been on two track days and as a technician for Honda and Suzuki road testing, fault finding and the like has seen me ride police bikes under blues and two's and reached 186MPH on GSXr's, Blades and one ZZR1400, so yes, I like sports bikes!

The sun was shining,the roads were warm,the tyres were sticky and i was at work stuck in my VW cage
"The Hill"as we call it here is where we have a short stretch of road with nearly every main bike dealership on both sides.It was swarming today with bikers.All i could do was watch and listen to the sweet sound of ilegal cans and the dry clutch rattle of Ducatti's in the air.Hum ho maybe tomorow.

Richy those baffles only go in for one hour each year.MOT day lol.The blue flame looks nice but its budget not quite the Akrapovik or yoshi you were sporting.

I loved the blue flame when it came out but my mate got there first and I always tried to keep things different to my fellow bikers. Plus, being in the trade, I used to get things at trade or cost so that and not having a family yet made any whim a reality. Just a shame I didn't realise how good I had it!
