It's as easy as nothing, only you would have to restrict yourself to a handful of codes that anyone who wanted to could remember.
The superior officer could take command, and for example say things like this to the lower ranked players: "prior", "sekndry", "thrdman" and "quartr":
prior DC (= defend carrier)
sekndry GH (= go high)
thrdman HO (= go head on)
quartr CM (= come with me)
Since most players enter the game just once in a while, and don't come back for weeks, these codes would be understood only by the initiated. Those however, would know what to do.
Then, of course, there is the question of what purpose it would serve. It would just make good players better and novices worse.
When dedicated squad wars become a reality, this would change. The original game would have to go on as always, - after all the ordinary players make up an overwhelming majority and will always be the most important part of the game.
In the dedicated squad games, however, squads could try to outwit one another with codes and signals and plans and schemes made up on beforehand.
