With the first high tide cycle this morning, significant coastal flooding inundated many locations in southern New Jersey.

During the second high tide cycle Monday evening, storm surge flooding inundated portions of the New York City area. Water was reported to be three feet deep in 4 New York plaza and six feet deep outside. Large amounts of water flooded the path train system under the Hudson River. WNBC reported that water was up to the attics of homes on Staten Island with rescues ongoing. FDNY engine 206 headquarters on Grand Street was evacuated by boats. An iWitness Weather photo showed flooding near Avenue C and 14th street in New York City. A tweet sent by @MTAinsider showed water in the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel (Brooklyn Battery Tunnel).

A new storm tide record of 13.88 feet was set at The Battery in New York City on Monday evening. The old record was 11.2 feet in 1821. Tide levels in Sandy Hook, N.J. have topped the previous record from the Dec. 1992 Nor'easter and Hurricane Donna in 1960!

Coastal flooding will continue through additional tide cycles beyond Monday's peak into Tuesday afternoon, in some areas!

Hey Devil checking in very very windy power surging....Mrs Devil and I are OK ...how is the rest of my family...Coop, keith83, bomber, bopes, dogss , dent, Paul, Wiggy...and another out their hope all is well...was just listening to scorpions rock u like a hurricane...I'll keep posting through out the night...john

All safe here. No power though since about 9:30 pm and major flooding! Cars floating down the street kind of flooding! Glad I stowed our car on the third floor of the parking garage.

Okay here in uptown Manhattan, Bopes. We read that you'd lost power in JC. Glad you, personally, haven't been hit too hard. The flooding all over the city is unbelievable! Four feet of water in subway tunnels, whole neighborhoods of Manhattan and Brooklyn flooded out, attic high water levels in spots. Explosions in power stations, building-top construction cranes tearing loose and dangling over streets. (one of 'em much too close to my favorite burger joint, "The Burger Joint", for comfort) The blistering winds up here seemed to die down some around 11:30pm but now, roughly an hour later, they sound like they're picking up a fresh head of steam. I swear I had nothing to do with this particular apoci-clips, I'm not even in the Top 50 fercrissakes!

Joe, you probably aren't seeing this at the moment but as soon as you can please give us a bark. Fela, you too. Let us know how you're holding up.

Here in Kentucky there's a chance a 50mph winds and there is sleet and rain and it sucks. The next county over a bus crashed with preschoolers inside. 2 3year olds died and the rest were injures and taken to the hospital. Hopefully none more like that happen. Also did u guys here there's tons o dead rats in new toro in the streets because the flood dumped I'm on the road but rats can't swim so therefor tons o dead rats. Be safe to all who r still there. Remember a house is a house u can rebuild it but u can't rebuild u or ur family. If it gets to bad please get out and get safe. My best wishes to all.

HI FRIENDS. The bad fella of Mom reporting from Sandy's aftermath. Alive but without power in home. With a fallen tree in the entrance of the house . It was a scary situacion that lasted all day and night until the storm left New Jersey. I had just finished a nice two weeks vacation trip to South America, to Ecuador, where I enjoyed a beautiful weather, and in a lapse of only 20 hours all that changed for a dark house , heavy rain and a fallen tree covering the window. I hope all Moms living close to me are okay. Tank you all for your concerns...
