Greetings friends of [e]nigma Corps,
Forgive the intrusion, but as the "mouthpiece" of M.O.M (The Mean Old Men squad) I want to take a moment to thank you for your kind support.
As Coop has told you we lost one of our pilots, Kevin aka Legendofkane, to cancer yesterday. The thoughtful condolences of several of your members have been deeply appreciated. For those of you who haven't heard the story, here is the original posting we received under Kevin's forum banner:
legendofkane wrote: Hello, my name is Michael, Kevins brother, he left me instructions on how to find this site and said since hes always logged in,he said it shouldnt be any trouble to post here. I am on his laptop now and this is an intresting game, but now to why Im here, Kevin told me that he told you of his illness and he put off going to the doctor for a long time which i think would have helped him, hates hospitals. He said all of you let him join you despite him being "green" and i thank you for that, he loves family, especially wig(?) on here, he never knew his real dad since he was adopted. It is therefore with deep regret that i should inform you that Kevin died Wednsday afternoon on the table, during his operation Kevin went into cardiac arrest and with his body already unstable and undergoing partial tumor removal, the doctors tried but was unable to save him,I believe he did not suffer nor was in pain..He LEFT THIS LETTER FOR ALL OF YOU IN MoM....."DEAR GUYS, i go into surgery in about two hours and im bored so im writing this, if you're seeing this letter then all didnt go as planned and i have no fears,if you dont see it, then i will be on in a few days(why am i writin this part if no one will see it?),we start to die the minute we are born.I thank WIG for for helpin me join and ALL OF MOM that let me in as well, and to the members i fought and played with.and to those that i didnt,Thank You, you were my new family. You knew how to play, viciously, graciously, and light-heartedly,i think this squadron will grow more and more as others will see how you are,not about just winning, but caring, and teamwork..and killin each other in dogfights, gotta tell ya, it was always a scary sight to see a red MoM badge come over that horizon, i was always hesitant about firing on them.Whenever you're playing the game, look to those generated clouds and you might see me, not as the terror for which i was feared (HAH!),but as a brother- in- arms. So dont be sad at this, thats life,so open up a brew, pour a 40 on the curb, and go kill some red badges, and yes, even if its another MoM,..oh by the way,if you're tired of fightin do like i did (if not already), take your plane straight up to the max and touch the screen to look down, sorta peaceful seein all that land below, quiet, i died enuf in the clouds, i wanna check em out for a while.
It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to, than I have ever known.

Coop and several of us have discussed a game-wide tribute flight to honor Kevin's memory. My thought is that we choose a time (possibly two or three so that players in different time zones will have a chance to participate) and gather in-game to simply fly together and remember a fallen comrade. Stay as long as you like, drop out of one "no fight" mission and into another to fly with a different group, leave whenever you choose.
With your permission I'll interrupt your thread once more when we have the details of the plan in place. Meanwhile I welcome the chance to hear from any of you directly (three spaces between the dot and the w in "wigbomb") with suggestions or simply to say hello, we'll be grateful for your input.
Again, thank you all for maintaining the highest standards of honor and for your compassion, it's helped us immeasurably in getting though a difficult time.
All best regards,
Rick (aka . wigbomb)
