Zup, I started playing today and looked up at my screen name only to see 2 extra zeros added to my name. It is supposed to be "Dunc7 (WP***). Instead, it reads as "Dunc7 0 0 (WP***). I can't change it! Please help! Thanks

I'm still working on it because I would like to allow for different languages (like Japanese or Chinese characters) but I've limited some of the characters and replaced them on the names.

Things like dots, spaces, ` ~ , and so on which makes your name almost invisible are now replaced by some different characters to address exactly that... you are invisible to most.

It's not fair to other players and obviously I either enforced it or many would just ignore it.

I'd imagine that after the 48(?) hour wait period you can change it again.

In the mean time, have fun with the Mistfits that have spaces in their names. MOOOOO!

Yeah Mr Zuperman, the 0's fix to get rid of the no namers is good, but we can't change our names to get rid of the 0's !
(eg I am currently ^o^ 0Gannet and want to change it to ^o^ Gannet )

I appreciate your attempt to remedy the problem with "invisible" players. I find invisible names irritating.

However I don't think \....GAW.../ comes close to being invisible.

So exactly which characters are now taboo? I need to rethink my screen name. I sure don't care for the 0's and #'s that got plugged into my name.

Did you give advance notice that this action was taking place?

you can, if you don't use special characters. So far only letters are allowed.
Although for humans is easy to identify what's visually ok, like \..##../ for computers it is not.

I'm still working on some way to be in the middle, so it doesn't block all characters.

So are all special characters out?

I just tried to change to [M]GAW and it would not change.

I just tried to change my name to Mongo and it did not work. No special characters at all. It went right back to 0[*M]ongo!

Agreed, i have always tried to do what was needed. Remember when we had to make our forum and gamw ID the same because Zup was doing something? I cant even change it to plain Mongo without any special characters. Pretty damn mad about it too!

Thanks for the heads up, yeah my name change worked but not the way it should be. Notice anything? No [ ] or a *

If this is the way it's going to be from now on I sure hope it was worth sacrificing the many for just one.

Could you please make it possible to use the * as well as the [ ] in our in game names? Those who had spaces before now cannot use said characters and I as well as several others feel it's important that we can use them.

I rolled back this change. You should be able to change to whatever names.
