As to game play there really isn't any benefit. You may fly against your squad mates, or they may be on your side, you never really know.

Otherwise, it's a sense of community, and yes even friendships can be formed. In my squad we had a spring contest which was really cool, and we will have others in the future too.

Therefore, if you want to join a squad do so, but you don't really have to. However, you won't build those bonds just flying solo.

With that all said, when you join a squad, really pay attention to the rules, or they just may kick you out of the squad.

I will personally tell you that a squad has very little if anything to do with actual game play. From my end, the Misfits are a brother/sisterhood. We communicate beyond this game. We know names and faces. We know each others strengths and weaknesses. We know how each other struggle, both in the game and in our day to day. It's family. These are my brothers. These are my sisters.

On a side note, good to see you stop on by the Forum. Heard good things about a guy flying around with your handle. Looking forward to hearing and possibly seeing more. A quick tip before I depart: Check every squadrons first page. They usually contain not only the rules or guidelines within a squad, it will also usually contain squadron hierarchy (which is the very definition of a paper tiger on the interwebs.) It might also contain a bit of squadron history and interesting facts. Hope to see you around.

There are multiple reasons to join a squadron.. or even an escadrille! :P First is camaraderie.. secondly, a sense of being a part of something bigger than yourself and helping it to grow and/or be more feared & respected. ( FEAR the =£= !)

Also in some squadrons pilots will teach you tips & tricks of the game.. as well as what kind of actions are acceptable in Dogfight and what ones can get you banned or abhorred! Also some can teach you to be a better dogfighter.. or tanker.. or bomber, etc.

But making new friends is one of the BEST things about joining a squadron! :)

Yeah, but some just never listen or care.

I know of someone that was asked to leave their squad after several warnings and lessons, but totally clueless and kept up with the same actions, so out they went with the trash. :S

Squads add another dimension to the game. If anything, the squad you choose tells the community a lot about who you are - who your friends are, and your reputation, which seems to be off to a great start from reading above.

I suggest, Pmoon, that you do some homework on squads as to build on that good reputation you have. Do not join any squad accepting any and all pilots. That's a big red flag to drama and a tainted reputations. Also, don't accept any offers just cause someone offered. Seek the one you want, and impress them.

Finally, ask yourself if you want to belong to a larger squad or a smaller one. The NLRs are committed to staying fairly small, but some seek tons of new talent and growth - that's probably the biggest difference between squads. A few seem to want to cause nothin' but trouble - like those Misfits :P A bunch of no-good, good-for-nothin', bullies. :woohoo: J/K

It's nothing more than a group of players who like to play this game we all love so much, so really no benefits, no more coin and really nothing more than a choice to get to know others who play.

There are always topics to offer help with game play, topics to offer thought on what rules don't really exist in this game and topics that point out the few that do exist. Search and you will find who or what squads are active and remain so, search and you will find a variety of topics and friendships as well as disagreements. Basically, you really don't need to be a part of a squad, we have no form of squad wars in this game, although it has been promised again and again.

Squads offer friendships and bonds beyond the game in many ways depending on the individual squad and each has it's own style compared to the virtuality of this game. If you are looking, or invited, just read the threads of each squad you are invited to and ask as many questions as you like, good hunting and enjoy the games we have played.

True that Mad, there is always beer in my fridge for Enigma members that drop past. Hell, I'd even share a beer with members of other squads if the dropped in.
