Percy, I would think that your are right about loosing good players new or old due to the piss poor examples that a few top rung players choose to be. I hope we are both wrong.
I've been playing this game before Oct 2012, I'm not sure to sound proud of that or be a little ashamed of it

I sometimes think that it's a bit ridiculous to have spent the time I have at his game at the age that I am...... then i think of the friends I've made and the many different people I've gotten to know since I started this game, folk I never would have ever had the pleasure to get to know and chat with about subjects that i can honestly say would have been more then unlikely in my non virtual life. When I look at the time spent here and reflect on it in that light I'm damn glad I found this game, and know that I will remeber and look back at instances and smile , probably chuckle some....
The diversity that is here is something that I wouldn't be able to be a part of in real life, for that I'm thankful aswell. I've learned a lot from so very many players and have found myself in deep thought after a game about how someone is or how they are doing and stunded frankly, at the connection I have with people here and how unexspected it has been for me in regards to relationships that I have here that I wouldn't if not for DF.
I for one (I think it obvious if you've flown against me) I'm not here for the KDR or any other Stat that comes with this game. Not saying there is anything wrong with stats, they can be drivers and pushers to better oneself and serve a good purpose if approached from the idea of bettering on self by way of diligence, practice and honor..... sounds old fashion I know.... im old.
I have said and do still believe that the MORAFS of Dog Fight, the majority of us do take the label to heart and give back to the game for what we have learned and know. Some more then others but it's a pretty damn straight shooting bunch of honorable people these MORAFS of Dog Fight and I'm honored to be a member of of this club and rub shoulders with the elite players here.... who are fine folks that do care about this game even more then they may know or are willing to admit.
You have to take the bad with the good, not just here but in general. At least that's how it seems no matter what we may be talking about. I will admit there were times when I would have liked to (and times I actually did) push my values and beliefs on to others in regards to how the game should be played and the form of play that we should all adhere too. I don't really understand why I felt the entitlement that my way of play was superior and more honorable then someone else's, for one I'm at best a mediocre player when it comes to skill and haven't acquired a fan base of any size to make myself, let alone anyone else take me for anything more the what I am, a goof ball player that may or may not shoot you down at any ONE time.... But i have felt full enough of myself to push my belief of standard of excellence that isn't really nessassary (due to its only a game theory) on others...
A bit ridiculous but embarrassingly true at one time or another. My feelings are this. It is just a game I know. I don't think and at this time believe that one can separate the gamer from the real world mind and morals of A player. Meaning, if on plays with honor and respect to others in game blue and red it is a reflection of the individual as a whole even in real life. We can assume that the spawn killers aren't accually spawn killing in real life.... I think. Its most probably safe to say how ever that these players lead a similar existence by taking short cuts, and take unfair advantage of others, sneaking around in the shadows and when called out on the dirty deeds they more then likely have there lame excuses justifying why it is they had to do it the way they did and seemingly guilt free. There is a bit of the psyche that no doubt is in bed with there narcissistic self beliefs of grandiose sight of them being better then the rest...... but remeber they are compensating for Itty bitty peckers!
Guess what I'm saying is you can't do anything about the Migs and the Korean air forces and the few other MORAF players that choose to play with those types of values. And we really shouldn't try. What we can do is when we see these tools abusing the new guys and gals let the newer player know we know it sucks and that there is a ton of other players that do know the definition of honor and common courtesy and live by what they know, so don't give up its a great game and if they stay they will be glad they did spend so much time attempting to figure out why they stayed so long, and being glad they did.
