Hi Zup,

Since I can't play now anyway....(Apple)....and it sure sounds like It's going to be while 'till I cán:

I'm making a Daimler 1915 German Army truck to use in a short animated movie one day.

It's way too detailed for a game as this, but are you interested in a simplified version of it?

sure, it looks pretty cool

For games usually we make 1 version of less than 1500 triangles or 3 versions from 3000 to 500 triangles. What the game does is replace the quality versions depending on distance: far it picks up the crappy 500 triangles that you can't tell it's crappy from far. Near it picks up the detailed one.

you should put more detail on the wheels, they look too triangulated. There are ways to do it with a transparent texture. The trick is that you use a square and then the wheel texture is drawn on it with transparency so it looks perfectly circular although in reality it is a square.

As for the other versions with less resolution, you don't have to do them manually. There are tons of tools to create LOD models, try simpleton as an example.

Haven't found 'Simpleton'.........(but maybe I am.)

Will try your suggestion with the transparancy. It will surely beat something I found in a ACME game. (A Computergame Mentioned Elsewhere.)

Lol I hope a company wouldn't name their product Simpleton, but anything's possible! One time at a restaurant, we had paper place mats with ads, and one of them was for "MT Marketing"

Cool Rudolf.

I'd like to try some 3D modelling, sometime.
Are you using public domain software, or expensive professional package?

You could look into some of this software:

www.hongkiat.com/blog/25-free-3d-modelli...-you-should-not-miss

I've done work in Blender and Unity back when I took computer science classes. They can do a lot of you're willing to invest the time to learn the software.

I've had a friend who did professional-level work in Maya, which is also from Autodesk. But that's way out of my level!
We liberate from our negative will to nothingness, and once having said yes to the instant, the affirmation is contagious. It bursts into a chain that knows no limit. To say yes to one instant is to say yes to all of existence.

blender, it's free, but a bit of a pain to learn.
There are a lot of instructionals on Youtube though.
And recently I downloaded the free version of Unity, but I started with that two days ago to see if this project is useable.

A much easier program is Trible's Sketch Up.

But I've just stRted this as a hobby less than a year ago.

Thanks Rudolf, that's going to be fun for winter nights, which are starting to feel close here.
