Hey Dogfighters,

First and foremost I really enjoy this game and love flying with you all!! even if I'm an easy target

I've been struggling with controlling any aircraft accurate enough to be any good using the tilt controls on this 8.1 tablet.... Things have gotten better with the updates and after discovering that I have to turn off notifications to get this tab to pay full attention to the game.... all my graphic and sound settings are set to minimal and sensitivity is set to max.... Still I cannot swing this tab around fast enough to get lined up on a target before getting shot down.... again and again and again.... not to mention that the target is often a mere pixel if that.... slowing down a bit makes it easier to aim but at the expense of being an easier target....

So in an effort to improve my game I plugged in an Xbox 360 controller and cannot get the game to recognize it.... I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game with the controller on and functional....it works fine in other online games....

HEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!! Please please please please!! I would much rather be a worthy opponent than easy points and would rather be a useful teammate than a drone.... can't even think of applying to a squad with a .5 k/d.... don't look at Fade2Black stats....

Any thoughts??

See ya out there!!

It's almost as if they are two completely different games

Played on keyboard and tilt (no controller). Two different worlds.
Ignorance has a way of enlightening us all.

after thinking about it for a while there may be a way to put the USB port ahead of the touch screen in the system and maybe the game will pick it up with another re-install....

Or maybe Zup could add a little line of code to look past the touch screen and offer the controller if one is installed....

Also maybe a moot point as my Jeep sold.... find out Saturday when the cash is in hand.... I need a real computer and monitor anyway....

Never played on a Windows 8 machine, but if you're on a tablet/phone, by far the best way to play is with tilt controls and sensitivity turned all the way up. It makes it much easier to turn, and you'll get the hang of aiming pretty quickly. (Of course, that won't help if you're already using full sensitivity)

As for getting a fancy gaming computer... Don't, if this is the only game you'd be playing. A fairly cheap ($500?) laptop could easily run DF on full settings.

Oh, and for the 360 controller... Is it an Android tablet, or Windows? I can help with a Droid.

Thanks for the input!! This most likely won't be the only game.... never should have bought this tablet but then I never would have found DF at all.... it is an ACER tablet with Win 8.1, a knock off of the Surface Pro.... I DO NOT recommend it for anything as it has firmware issues and I am constantly losing communication with the keyboard.... even after all the updates....

and it is really clunky to try to fly with the keyboard attached.... the keyboard has fallen off in the heat of battle and I have to scramble to reattach it during a re-spawn....

I am amazed at how others can fly and type at the same time and I could never begin to fly with just the keyboard....

Yeah, the more I think about it the more a new computer sounds like the way to go.... probably not a gaming machine but something better than this junk....

Watch out DogFighters!! If I get a decent monitor I may actually be able to see the REDS and with a controller may actually be able to line up a shot in a reasonable amount of time.... HEY!!

The following is personal opinion only... take into consideration i don't have much experience using devices. Tried for about 10 minutes felt like i was drunk couldn't even fly straight so I abandoned and went back to PC.

Neb I recommend Windows 8.1 PC or laptop and xbox controller w/ sensitivity turned all the way up. Dont need a fancy machine middle of the road will do. Thats the ticket.

You can easily chat and fight . There are some issues with controller when u get in tank because you have to switch to the keyboard.

The aiming is still a bit notchy w/ xbox controller going up or down in increments of say 10 yards rather than smoothly like device. So they still have upper hand in aiming. But you will turn way better if go with this set up. You will rarely get turned on if you have top of the line plane fully upgraded.

Also you have to get usb box controller wireless not compatible.

If you choose to go w/ a PC, don't use a controller. The joysticks are simply less precise than a keyboard.

Keyboard all the way. Tilt control is completely unpredictable. Of course... I can't shoot straight on a keyboard either...
What I did, I did without choice. In the name of peace, and sanity.
