How do I update this game. Haven't played for over a year. Stopped playing cause I had to update it.

Just go to page 2 of this forum and check thread win8.1 is available now for dogfight. I have mentioned steps how to update.

Still you can try below steps

Step-1 On the Start screen, tap or click Store to open the Windows Store.
Step-2 If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, and then click Settings.)
Step-3 Tap or click App updates.
Step-4 Tap or click Check-Update
Step-5 You will see all apps whose updates are available including Dogfight. Just Select Dogfight and Tap or Click on Install.

Its Done.

Note: In case you don’t find update for dogfight, Tap or Click on “Sync licences” and wait till message shows “Your App licenses are up to date” then follow step-4.

You are stuck then... the game requires windows 8.1. You can get the admin password depending on what. I guess she forgot the admin password of the Microsoft store. There is a 'recover password' for that on there.

If you lost the admin password of the computer that's a different issue. I don't think that's the case because you are using the computer and otherwise you wouldn't be able to log in...
To recover the password for that, you can do it but you need someone with pc knowledge.
