All those on-screen options you currently despise, sound like they stem from your device. I have all the same problems, especially the freezing joystick. That is the device, not the game. What are you playing on?
It seems that your phone (I'm assuming it's a phone) has fallen a little farther behind in the technology curve than this game currently is. Zuperman has added dozens of new features in the last year (many by the request of players), and the amount of data being streamed to your device is higher than ever. If you're ill-equipped, the experience will be less than gratifying.
Yes, there are problems, but your review is a bit harsh, and doesn't actually mention any that aren't tied to your end.
I assure you, no player that's worth having here has ever quit due to in-game purchase prices.
Have a nice day.
I have no idea what you're getting at with your last comment. I don't intend to quit because of prices on voluntary purchases..? I don't even intend to "quit"
I've played across a variety of current devices, all with the same issues. This isn't device specific. An "Optimization" process which sets parameters that actually exceed devices capabilities is indicative of either A) flawed optimization or

mutually exclusive requirements for the two processes (possibly even both).
My public facing (app store) review is glowing, and I never anticipate changing that. I love this game, and have had SO many exciting hours in it's skies. However, I do fully intend to vent my frustrations with something I like so much in the appropriate contexts (here), with the hope that I won't receive white knight-esque backlash from people who just want to say good things about a small operation.
It's apparent to me that a lot of attention is getting focused on aesthetics and front-end design, with little concern with how that impacts the application back end (I'm a web application developer so it's kinda related). The app flat out cannot keep up with the interface. Before you try and blame my device, please see the results of "optimization" (under the assumption that it does actually work).
That is my only concern. I, and the whole rest of the tech world, would agree that front end is one of the most important aspects of any application, but you can NOT sacrifice performance, otherwise you're working against yourself.
Not that I think that anyone is blatantly saying "fuck performance", but the feeling still exists, based on actual application use over the years.
Finally, let me explicitly say that #1 I think this app is fucking great and #2 thank you thank you thank you zuperman for being attentive, and providing such a fantastic application for us to enjoy on the go. I'd love to work with you to help better the game and community however I can!
