Since the AUTOMATIC update to a version of dogfight with paintjobs, but no new planes, I have not been able to get into any game...I get through to plane selection, choose a plane, and it starts to load the game...and keeps loading it....and keeps loading....and loading...to stop it I have to close the app...

What you have right now, then, is the beta test. A bridge between 4.4.52 & 4.4.53. I also downloaded that, to test it, but I was unable to enter games then. Reinstall the game, then wait until an update tells you it is 4.4.53. It worked perfectly for me earlier this week on Android.

Mine is a bit different.... I can't make it past the opening screen

I had the same problem this morning. I uninstalled and re installed the game. Put in your account email and password and you can fly again. Hope this helps.
