FEAR NOT! Uncle Porkins has you covered!

The runway and the carrier both have twice as much length as you need, actually 4 times as much once you get better at it - a can actually harrier land my 5a and DV now, whether you're supposed to be able to or not lol!
Best method when you're learning is to get lined up nice and straight, when your plane is still over the grass, kill the throttle and glide in nice and gradual. When you're about to touch down, pull up hard so the nose doesn't hit first - you will probably bounce a lot until you get smooth but you'll get the hang of it, just try not to touch the ground if you're much over 60mph - you can land much faster but some quick corrections are usually needed.
If you are coming in for a landing and see that you're going too fast, you can pull up to scrub off speed and then ease back down for the landing. If you are coming in and find you cut the throttle too early and are going too slow, its okay to touch down on the grass and roll onto the runway (doesn't work so good for carrier landings).

Hope this helps, if anyone else can offer more or anything useful that I've missed, please post and help Jude.G out?

Throttle back... but not all the way. Control altitude with throttle as you slow down using back-elevator. Flare a little with elevator before you touch down to bleed off the last bit of airspeed and stall the plane just as you land. Go to third person view if it seems to help.

On a carrier it's easier to land in the same direction as the carrier moves.
Throttle down and keep the nose up.
If you let the nose down just before you touch the ground you don't get the big bounce.
Then practice, practice, practice :)

Don't worry I didn't get it straight away either but you will pick it eventually, hopefully soon if you keep on trying!
I'd only be repeating the guys above me if I were to say how to land but one other tip is if you are coming in fast then be sure to NOT apply the brakes until you slow right down or else you'll tip forward and crash!

Practice makes perfect!

When coming in to land I always have full plane view it does make it a lot easier, also use it when bombing.

In addition to the suggestions above, if you are not completely straight with the runway or carrier deck, touch down with your leading wheel first. You can control a bounce better that way. This is a real world way to land a plane. A few updates ago it was really tough for me to make a successful landing unless I did this.

Another thing you can do is use a practice mission. Land your plane on the grass and practice "driving" across the ground. Try to go as fast as you can without getting airborne. You can really get a feel for the throttle and the stall speed that way.

As you first touch down if all of a sudden you see only clouds as your plane noses up (this happens a lot, at least on PCs) you need to hit the controls downward hard to nose the plane down, this is a life saver.
Once you've landed and rolling along wait until the plane is nice and slow before braking. Judging what's slow enough takes practice, but err on the side of caution. I like a speed that feels like a slow jog.
I've only landed playing a PC so my advice might not apply to you.

And like McFate said, the practice missions are great for this.

This is a common problem for starters :) you'll be landing your planes easy just by playing and practicing more :) just as the others said above, it's best if you use the practice part of the game rather than practicing in the multiplayer since it would lower your rank (death counts)

for me, it's best if you approach the runway straight. better if you level down to the ground as you draw nearer to the runway. slow down as you do so too :) B)
Can't bring down faster and better planes? MAKE THEM CRASH.

Point the nose of your plane at the ground and give it FULL POWER this will help you stop on a dime. :) Hope this helps.
