Just tried to play DF on my Lumina 720 and got a message saying that there's a new version available and upgrade is required to play. So, went to update it and got an error on the Windows Store, saying that the app is not compatible with my phone. The reason is that 1GB of ram is required.

My phone has 512 MB and has run DF for months until now. So, has anyone else experienced this? And, I'm hoping that this isn't a permanent problem.

Zup, can you please tell me if dogfight will compatible for 512 MB devices again? I hope so?

I've been playing DF on two Windows devices. I paid for the app on a Win8 tablet, and it now I can't fly the plane, on that device without crashing, after the latest update (about a week ago). The app on the phone, I rarely used, so I never paid for it. So, what I am saying is, that I'm glad I didn't because now, all of a sudden, it is not compatible for my phone.

I like this game, but for me, it never worked well on either device. So, I wonder if you had my experience, if you'd say the same thing. You really should know more about the situation before, you tell people off, for not being grateful.


Edit: Zip, if you're reading this, then I should have said the tablet is on 8.1 I don't know it matters, but apologies for not mentioning it before. Thanks

Hmmmmm, my Windows Phone 8 is now working for the first time since version 4.4.37, and I can't imagine this piece of crap has 1GB of anything lol! This HTC 8x is the worst phone EVER! But the screen resolution on Dogfight is actually sharper than the Galaxy S2 I've been playing with.
I just played with it for the first time since hearing what a ghost kill was and that I'd done it to someone, must be 6 weeks or more, and it works great now. I have the 4 graphics options turned off.
I hope it works like this for everyone, hate to see anyone stop playing the game
I paid for some upgrades myself and was not pleased that I couldn't play either. Though it gave me an excuse to buy a Google Nexus 7......for my darling wife that is......best way to play Dogfight though! Although she wants her tablet back all the time

Just checked the 8x does have 1GB of RAM. I agree, playing with a tablet is the way to go. And, I'm happy that the phantom issue seems to be resolved. Just tried re-installing DF on the phone, but after uninstalling, it doesn't show up in the store anymore. So unless the app gets optimised for 512MB some time in the future, then I won't be playing it on the phone anymore.

Youve been playing on win8 for months. You claim to have read all about it. So you understand that youve ruined hundreds of games for non windows users.

Your presence in game really does ruin it for others.

The decent thing to do woyld be stop playing until the software is fixed.

This is why you are hated. Not "simply because you use windows."

I mean there used to be a plus and minus Karma button on each forum members profile. If they posted something you liked, you give them a Karma bump to show your approval. Conversely, if someone made a bonehead comment like, "I can't play the game, boy I'm glad i didn't pay for it." (<--- bonehead comment) You could take away a point to show you're lack of appreciation for the remark.

I have had both Windows and android devices and I've never seen an app become unavailable for a device where it previously worked. It's one thing say, from the beginning, that an app won't work on a device because the specs aren't compatible. Its another thing to change the spec of the app to make incompatible on some devices after people have been using it for awhile. Whether its free or not, if you like the game it is disappointing.

But, I am a paid up user (see above). And, unfortunately it's not working on that device either, which led me to go back to try the phone, only to find out about the incompatibility. Personally, I think you guys read into my comments, things I wasn't saying, and I can't help but think that this grudge people have about the phantom issues has effected that.

I didn't need a lecture about support devs, as I've used and paid for custom roms and tweaks on android phones for years. I'll gladly pay for something that works. Again, its easy to sit behind a computer and make assumptions. It takes more effort to ask someone to explain themselves.

Dude, you need to chill. My name is the same in the game as in the forum. Go to my profile and read my posts. Have a look at the things I've said about this phantom issue, in the past.

Listen, you don't make sense when you blame Win8 users for ruining the game. I bought this game (on the tablet) on the normal assumption that it would work, correctly. The game was ruined because it was sold/offer up for Windows before it was ready. If, I did take advantage and used this issue to my good, you'd have a point. But, I didn't. AND, it really was about 50/50. I was shot down a ton, by people I couldn't see. Dude, try to think positive about people first, cause what you feel may not always be right.

I was one of the roughest guys on windows players. I spent more than one game bashing a phantom. Frustration with the phantom deaths and a few windows8 guys that rubbed it in didn't do any good.

What i do not get is the "ohh boohoo the game sux for me half the time, too" argument that most win8 players adopt.

You ruin %100 percent of the games you are in for the rest of us. That you continue playing under the circumstances makes you inconsiderate, rude, and SELFISH!

Nothing you can say will change my mind on this. Please explain how you are not a selfish jerk to continue playing for months under the circumstances. Actually i dont care to hear it, since I know it will be nonsence.

EDIT I also get that it's the developers fault that the game is broken. But it's %100 percent your fault for continueing to play since you became so educated on the subject.

Man, it really goes to show how much we all love this game by how frustrated we get over it. It saddens me to see it, but I sure do understand it.
I bought it on Windows Store and after the first few multiplayer games I was hooked! But I think it was around update .38 that I started getting killed soooooo many times by planes I couldn't see, only to be told that it was me who was a phantom and that I wasn't wanted in the game. Being a 37 year old man and decidedly NOT a sissy, I was still hurt by that because I LOVE THIS GAME. I didn't give a **** that I spent a few bucks to get the full version and a plane, I just wanted to play with everyone.
Fortunately my old phone was Android with a quad core processor and I had bought my wife a Google Nexus 7 tablet so I just started signing in on those to keep playing. If I didn't have those devices, I imagine I'd be a little upset right now, and I'd be lying if said I wouldn't be on this forum talking about it.

I guess what I'm saying is, when I read these posts and see tempers flaring I see myself on both sides of the argument and wish there was a solution. I just remind myself that we all love this game and that's why we get so bent out of shape. I wish there was something I could say to make everyone feel better about these issues

i use a lumia 820 to play the game. I'm 16 and havent paid for the game because i dont earn money. I have no right to tell my parents to buy the game for me. As ive mentioned several times, I'll pay for the game as soon as i start earning.
All the bugs mentioned above arent persent in my phone.

ghosting existed but is fixed by 4.4.41 update.

The update 4.4.42 created lag when all graphics were on. ( i always keep them at full settings no lag what so ever. ) Then i turned off all the graphics. Still created lag.

4.4.42 again resulted to a bit ghosting due to lag ( but not much ).

Hey dude.
If the game askes for 1 gb ram, try uninstalling and reinstalling.
The game works on iphone 4. ( 512mb ram) must work on urs.

Thanks, I tried that, but no joy, Once I uninstalled, it now doesn't appear in the store (when I login, it knows my device and only shows the app that compatible. So, Dogfight is no longer there anymore.

The other issues I reported are regarding a Win8 tablet. Since the new update (.41) I can't control the plane with the motion control and it seems like it has reverted to the lite version. I paid for this app months ago, and when I go into the Windows Store now there is only one version available. So, I'm confused.

UPDATE:
Dogfight for low end to medium grade Win8 phones is back in the mix!
I've just saw an update mentioned on a WP8 forum today, thought I'd see if it would install, and Bob's your uncle.
This means that WP8 devices with 512mb of RAM can play this game again. Just tried it, and it works. Not bad, a little jerky, but flyable. I asked people if they could see me, and one said yes. The version is: 4.4.42
