It has come to my attention, that the phantom fighters (those wacky fellows that seem to be shooting randomly at nothing, and who end up nailing you multiple times from their base to yours) are windows users. All of them I talked to has said the same thing.

I don't know how many times I would take off, and as soon as I gain altitude I get blown away (and definitely not a team kill), I see no one on the radar, and no one that I can visually see.

This makes you have a super Stache in a lot of games. It sux. I got pegged 5 times just past my own boat in one last night. 5 times in a row. I'm out on games like that. Had to bale out of that one. Lagging is one thing, invisakills by ghost players are another. Seems that some of these guys just totally disapear after awhile and start shooting you down. Total buzz kill.

Ok I figured it out. Here's what's happening: There is a 2-3 minute lag between windows users and everyone else so what happens is initially the phantoms complain "everyone is invisible" That's because they don't see us for 2-3 minutes. This is where they are most vulnerable and easy prey. However, after the initial 2 minutes have elapsed, they start seeing what we did 2 minutes ago--they are actually seeing our past! This is when they appear to be shooting randomly in the air but in fact, they are shooting your ghost and the server registers the phantom kill. This is also where they are the most vulnerable because they never actually see the present "you" so when they are shooting in the air, they are easy pickings.

I found this out after testing it with two random phantoms. I flew very high and dropped fast directly in the path of a phantom. After about 2 minutes, he typed "he is high".

It all makes perfect sense now. Windows does not sync up in real time with other platforms.

Its probably because most of us here don't use windows. Seems to be a popular choice for the noobs who are coming in through the windows app.

Yeah just meet a new wing commander 2nd class who couldn't see me in game, windows user. It's great that so many new players are on board, but frustrating for them and us. Hope it's sorted soon

Just left a game that I got shot down 3 times by someone I could not see. Windows device is what he said he was using.

I came across a "super phantom" . Not only was he a windows user, but lagging like a champ as well. Dude was unstopable ! Everyone on blue shot him continuously from duckwing all the way down to our base to zero effect. We all ran out of ammo but he kept going. We reloaded and continued shooting, even the reds joined us...all 7 of us on his 6 but he kept on going till he dropped his bomb on our hangers...(k a lil exaggerated but its the gist of it )

It was probably some top secret government spy plane used for surveillance on dogfight players.

yeah don't blame the poor guys, it seems a windows 8 bug, the players don't even know they are not seen by others, they just play as any regular player. I'm working on it at the same time i try to keep up with all the new squadron stuff. Hopefully it will be fixed real real soon.
