I don't recall that incident, Suxxor, but it doesn't sound out of character for me. If I determine that a player is abusing the "suppression" aspect of spawnkilling enemy players either on the airstrip or the carrier deck, presumably to cover for incoming bombers who aren't all that incoming, I will, on occasion, kick him/her out. There are those who give the reds every chance to get airborne, turn and evade, then engage. When I see, or am subjected to, spawn rape before the wheels of the plane are up, much less able to turn/evade/fire, that to me is a different thing. Understand, the "Kick" command allows you to immediately re-enter the same mission. It isn't the same as a ban. And we Mods do not have the power to permanently ban a player from within the game, only to impose a five minute Temporary Ban. Permanent Ban power can only be exercised via computer from our online Moderator console. I'm not a fan of "camping". I'll tolerate it up to a point - I'll even do it myself, up to a point - then once having determined to my satisfaction that the camping tactic is being abused I'll kick the player knowing that the server is set up to default that player back into the same mission the moment he returns to play. We all know this is how the server works.
No two Moderators necessarily have the exact same views on what is or isn't discipline-worthy behavior. It's subjective on a Mod by Mod basis. Given the same circumstances Manfred or Reid might not have kicked you. On the other hand Kevy or Gen. Jack might've banned you.
Whomever it was recounting the incident wherein I "asked" to be spawn killed...I have to laugh. That makes all kinds of no sense, doesn't it? I don't have to recall the specific case to know precisely what happened; whenever I'm the victim of, or witness to, flagrant spawnkilling I begin by openly warning the player and requesting/demanding that he/she stop. If the player ignores the typed warning I send an on-screen warning to reinforce that I'm a Mod. Not always, but in some cases, when I've established that I'm dealing with an unrepentant spawnkiller (almost always in a free for all Dogfight mission or a Capture the Carrier mission where, in both mission types, there is no excuse for spawnkilling by plane or tank) I'll give the player one last chance by saying something like, "Spawn kill me again, Player X...and we'll see how you enjoy being booted." i'm not actually requesting to be spawnkilled!
Now then...as for this business of my banning Vlesha for shooting me down: Vlesha, didn't it occur to you that there were witnesses in that mission who'd come forward and tell the truth? As Pedrinho has said, you were using inappropriate language. I didn't "ban" you, I muted you. Manfred has already explained here that Muting also automatically kicks the muted player, You know this because you came right back in the same mission. Ten or fifteen times! I don't know if you thought coming back in a different mission would skirt you around the Mute, but for future reference it will not. You're muted until I or another Mod goes online and unmutes you. I could have unmuted you from within that mission, as well, but you kept entering and dropping back out. Based on the vulgar language you were using the greater likelihood is that I would have left you muted to think about it for a bit longer. And for the record, you did shoot me down before being kicked. The only way you could've shot me down under those circumstances was because I was paying attention to typing in the Mute command and made myself a sitting duck. A Mod can't evade or attack and type commands at the same time. This Mod can't, anyway. It was a perfectly clean kill as these things go, I was engaged in kicking you for something else and the timing happened to fall the way it did.
I hadn't had any particular problems with you in the past. Get a handle on your profanity in the game and we won't have any problems in the future. Continue to use that language with underage players around and you can expect to spend more time muted and/or banned than you'll spend playing Dogfight. It's entirely up to you. And, again, in the spirit of full disclosure, I'm not immune to the occasional bit of unsavory language, myself. I might toss off a "My fkn bomb button stuck" now and then...but I have never and would never engage in childish name calling or personally directed "F bombs" as you were doing to me. I have to wonder how bright you need to be to think better of telling a Game Cop to "F U". Once again, it's a subjective judgment call. In your case I'm betting there isn't one of the other nine Mods who'd have hesitated to Mute you.
Finally, to whomever said I might've been having a bad day...absolutely a possibility. But I still wouldn't kick a player for having shot me down. That's patently absurd. Or "request" to be spawn killed. Equally silly. As the DF player base grows and the number of questionable characters playing grows proportionately we Mods have more and more jackasses with whom we have to deal. If my own behavior were ever influenced by a "bad day" to the point of deserving discipline I'd be the first to discipline myself. But it's up to players like Vlesha as to whether they play a clean, responsible game or lay themselves open to disciplinary action.
Vlesha, if you don't like being muted, don't type language guaranteed to get you muted. It's pretty simple stuff.
