I'm new to this game. Can't get beyond level 3. I've downed the plane, blown both tanks and buildings. What more is there to be done to progress ? Are there instructions for the game anywhere?

Hi phantom. Forget the practice game and come to enjoy multiplayer games. There youll learn all the tricks.
From dogfight support youll find help for newcomers. Hope this helps...

Phantom-

Make sure you are bombing the enemy hangars, not the buildings. The hangars are eight Quonset huts, four on either side of the approach end of the runway. They look like cans embedded in the ground. Practice and you can take out three at a time. If you get good at bombing your allies will love you in multiplayer.

I applaud your efforts in the practice games. If you can shoot down the practice enemy fighters you'll get a lot better at shooting down enemy fighters in multiplayer. You can also learn the handling characteristics of your aircraft (how to work the throttle, how to land in camera mode, speed to engage brakes without doing a face plant after landing, etc). And you do it all without annoying your multiplayer teammates! Win-win!

Thank you both for the replies. Question answered. I wasn't bombing the hangers. I'll wait til I get to the next level. I've spent a whole week trying to get past this level. Lets see what happens

...some key things to avoid. 1. Don't shoot your own teammates (blue). 2. Don't bomb your own base. 3. Don't tank in dogfight games to hang around bases and kill spawning planes. 4. Don't forget its a game....enjoy, be civil, remember lots of young kids play this...keep the foul language off the screen.

If you see bad play you can report it on the forum. Remember, we all have a learning curve. You will die a lot, butbyou will learn every time you play. Aiming, using airspeed , climb, dive, turn all improve the more you play. Unless you are suicidal, avoid the head on gunfights. Maneuver to get on their six and blow em away. Have fun!
