Fun on Dogfight (fah-n on dawg-fy-t) (neither N nor V)

1. Flying around and not shooting down Dentinhead and B Stratchan.
2. Flying around getting killed by (p)Sputnik
3. Joining M.O.M Squad
4. Being in a game without Team Killers, Spawnkillers, No tanks on end of runway and no traitors.

See Macquarie Dictionary always gets it right!!

Fixed it. :)

tinger wrote: please unban me. my name in game is "tinger".

I apologize for any actions done in the game against rules.

In fact, it's my 4-year old son who sometimes gets control of ipad, and shoots friends. I am now searching Internet for a way to temporarily disable an ipad app.

Please!

Tinger, I hate to be harsh, and I realize that others have touched on this, but seriously, do you realize how COMPLETELY MORONIC we would all have to be to believe that? Let's see why:

Reason Numero Uno: An iPad is rather heavy for a four year old to be swinging around. Weighs one, two pounds, but we've had full grown men, US Military Combat vets who struggled with swinging one of those things around for hours on end. I doubt that a four year old could do it for long enough to figure it out.

Reason Number Two: While it's a simple game to learn, it's kind of out of reach for your average four year old. When I was four, I was playing with 24 piece Winnie the Pooh puzzles. That's stuff that predates Adam and Eve. Using an iPad to play a video game that requires some thought is fairly new. I doubt he's learned to do much more than the aforementioned puzzles.

Reason Three: Back to physical limitations; I have smallish hands, even for a teenager. I hold my iPad so that the distance from edge to fire/bomb button is as short as possible for my thumb, and I don't overshoot very much. Your kid has hands the size of my thumb.

Reason Four: You don't have a password restriction on an Internet enabled device that's kept where a four year old can get to it? Now, this isn't a reason that it couldn't be true. If any part of your last grasp was true, it's more of advice. Lock the thing with a passcode, something a four year old can't figure out. I'm not for censorship at all, but a tiny kid with access to today's Internet... that's kinda scary, really. An innocent Google search can pull up porn, as I found out in class today. Never search "Glamour models" if you need a headshot. Just "Models" will do fine.

Reason Five: Back to reasons. I discussed already why a four year old wouldn't be able to figure out the basics, but, you could have taught him, as you would have politely told me, I'm sure. Well, being able to shoot down people with the regularity that your son was is very difficult. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I (A fairly skilled player, I can get testimonials) was shot down before I even landed one shot. A four year old has no attention span for a puppy, something that bounces around and plays all day, let alone a screen saying "Crashed" every thirty seconds.

Reason Six: Wow, we're getting up there in numbers, huh? Again, not so much a reason your kid couldn't play it, but a reason that he can't LEGALLY play it. Read the TAC before the game is downloaded. You must be thirteen or older to play. Any account (not person, but account) can be banned for an age related infraction. Banned either way.

Reason Seven: You say that four year olds like tanks? That's very true. (They also like hammers. That was my favorite toy when I was 3-4. Never hit anything, just carried it around. Most kids have a pacifier or a blanket. I had a hammer. Badass baby. ;) ) Anyway, so now your kid is working a tank. It took me over a month of playing before I figured out that the turret and gun could move. I was slow, I know, but I doubt a baby would do better. Along with that, the regularity that tanks survive long enough to do anything more than let me shoot them is infinitely small. Even when they don't die, killing a plane is something that takes a VERY skilled tanker, and a HELL OF A LOT OF LUCK. Babies have luck, very rarely skill at video games.

Now, apologies actually work here. I advise that you delete the app, redownload, make a new account, and play clean. If you get banned again, apologize. You might get a temp ban instead.

:BTW: I like the idea of a thread (Whole category?) for people to argue bans. Make a category called "Ban Issues" or something of the like, and lock it from new threads. Create one thread, that is unlocked. They'll open that category (remember, only the vets have Recent Topics, they'll look at the categories first), see the post, open, complain, we'll work it out, and be done with it.
See you in the skies!

Sorry to get involved in this but I did want to point out one thing. First off I'm not defending tinger. His argument is rediculous. That being said, Calvin you are completely wrong about the abilities of a four year old being able to play this game. I have a four year old that I let play the practice missions on my iPad all the time. I didn't have to show him anything at all. He learned how to tilt to steer by watching me. So I loaded up the practice mission and handed it over to him and watched in amazement as he throttled up, rolled down the runway and took to the air. That first flight lasted about 3 min before he crashed. I've seen him go longer than that..now shooting someone down is a completely different story. My four year old couldn't do it and he knows how to fly. Kids now a days are so in tune with technology now it's scary. I have a photo of my three kids all laying in my bed on a Saturday playing three different games on three different devices: one on an iPad, one on an iPhone and one on a droid...sorry for the rant. Tinger just apologize, take charge of your device and responsibility for your actions and get back to having fun.

Thanks Jimbo.

I don’t know if too many of you noticed, but I purposefully did not make believability part of the discussion. Sure, my response to Tinger contained some snideness that I regretted after his response. Other than that, my expressed reasons behind my actions did not in any way judge the integrity of the excuse given.

When it is impossible to check the truthfulness of an argument, it is un-strategic and unproductive to engage in a discussion on truthfulness. Especially when the consequence is the same. In fact, arguing over the truth distracts from the problem at hand. In this case, the problem is that someone’s account is being used to shoot friendlies, and the consequence is disabling the account until the account owner fixes the problem. Accusing the owner over the truth of his excuse is an irrelevant tangent.

I don’t mean to get on a soapbox, but for those of you who are open to it, this is a life lesson. It’s applicable in debate, child rearing, and work situations. Log all data for consideration, but don’t go down a rat hole after things that don’t ultimately affect the equation.

I appreciate Tinger’s positive response to the current consequence. And it doesn’t matter whether I believe him now. I figure I’ll know more after we get to know him, if we ever get that chance.

Contrary to what I'm about to say on this thread, I don't think anyone else should be posting on it. I think there needs to be a thread or some sort of discussion room that is used only by moderators and those pleading their case, something the rest of us do not have access to, the moderators also need a place that they and only they have access to, where they can discuss and consult with each other any problems in the game. If its kept as a thread of some sort, that everyone else has access to, there should be an understanding, an unwritten rule that no other player should post on it. That said I may in future read what is here, but will never again post on it, this is private ground, no trespassing!!

thanks jim, not particularly for your understanding of how much a 4 year old child could grasp this game, but for your invitation to the game again.

I don't want to insist truly my 4, no, 4 and 5/12 year old child could play it well. from the other side, because he is just a little over 4, he can't enjoy it by killing enemy - much more difficult than killing flight just immediately ahead, innocently.

really, if only apple had offered security options for apps other than facetime, safari ...

my own ipad (mini) is already under way, I will get it next week.

see you then.

Maybe just make a ban category like gossip and announcements etc. and the topic can be the user name...when banned the topic is visible and remove it if the ban is lifted...it would also be a good way to see the list of banned players quick for us to know who to avoid.

i am now sure I get the full control of my game account, please unban me.
in fact I get a new ipad, and delete the app from the old one - I can not prevent my sin from using it.

no purposefully team killing by Tinger will happen from now.

I mean I can NOT, can not prevent my son from using the original ipad, so another ipad is here.

Thought personal computer might not actually personal, tablet had better not be shared - a lesson.
