I assume you mean his own team's hangars, and you were on his team and saw it, or were close enough that it was obvious what he did? (i.e., you weren't halfway across the map.) I do have to ask - imagine him being banned, then his coming on the forum and it turns out it was the red team's hangars.

I did witness this traitor sink his own team by destroying the remaining hangars at his home base. I was on the other team and the only one from my side even close to their port when all the sudden "YOU WIN". No screenshots though. He's not a cool bird to fly with IMO.

I was in a game with him yesterday and after he refused to stop team killing I went after him and kept killing him til I got my 5 minute timeout. I'll go on the record here that any game he is in I will stop shooting red and focus on him.

Bear with me, I'm just trying to put a cap on the perpetual nonsense flying around. Someone PM'd me, and I've been trying to catch up since. My understanding (correct me if I have any facts wrong):
- [e]missedninja (AlexNinja here) called someone "f***ing gay" in-game, in response to something
- The comment was followed by some discussion of balls, or lack of them, in response to something
- Another player reported this, directly to Wig
- Someone muted Alex
- Alex brought it to the Misfits thread. Unjust muting because of the word balls. Abuse of Power. Everyone dogpiled.

No one should be dropping the f-bomb in the game or the forum, regardless of what it is responding to. 13-year-olds and all that. Also, trying to insult someone by calling them gay is an insult to gay people, and is considered homophobic. But it's really all about the f-bomb. And I don't care about balls, unless someone is being too explicit in their context (I won't elaborate, but prior mutes and bans have been from exactly that).

So, whoever muted Alex is totally correct. In fact, if not for my little weekend research project on this and the multiple PM's for which I've had to wait for responses, and for having to comb through a squad's thread to find the relevant pieces, Alex could have been unmuted long ago.

Now, Wig has been away from the game and forum for a couple weeks, or at least spending only occasional time here. He did not mute Alex. Most of the mods have responded to my query on the mod forum, and all say No so far. We haven't heard from Zup, as he is away for several days.

A lesson for all of us. Firstly, use the Blacklist thread when these things come up. I've said it before, a public forum is actually the BEST place to do this. Moderators have an exceptional power and responsibility in being able to mute and ban, and it needs to be done publicly, for transparency and open communication. Even when someone needs to send us a PM because the content is not postable, we should conduct the ban/mute on the blacklist thread, so that it's (a) searchable, (b) disputable, (c) posted in real-time and therefore un-alterable (well, except for Edit command, but that is obvious), and (d) transparent and showing no shenanigans. There are a few bans that stay off the forum, mostly because the game names just by themselves are so offensive, and what's the use of posting if you can't reference the name? So I keep a log of those, in case someone complains - notice that we always ask, what was your game name when you were banned?

Secondly, we shouldn't jump to conclusions without facts. The bandwagon effect is very interesting to watch. Devoid of facts, an accusation can be dogpiled and suddenly it's as good as true and verified. Another reason to keep those sorts of things on the blacklist thread, so facts can be brought to bear quickly.

Thirdly, and this is sounding like a broken record, keeping player complaints on the blacklist thread helps the mods to monitor fewer threads. Certainly DON'T post these complaints on a squad thread, unless you don't want action. It's really tough to scour through a squad thread looking for specific information. Those threads, by definition, are for monkeying around, inside jokes, and general squad business, all very challenging reading for someone who isn't in the squad.

Manfred the problem here is lack of proof, if anyone has commited the aleged offences they should be punished. The black list is for that very reason, if i'm to understand it correctly.... supposeably there is a pic of alex refering to balls, havent seen myself. and to my understanding thats it, the one pic with "balls" I for my own warm fuzzies, I would like to see the evidance if i was accused of anything... the dog pile is a result of players not keeping the offence puplic and the seemingly behind closed door way the mute happend......
no matter what went down in this case it went down out of the norm that we have come to expect here, and still no one has publicly shown proof, which is only feeding the fire of the dog pile.

you guys are all doing a great job at a job that is thankless but needed, I have exprest my gratitude for what the mods do for the game and keeping things civel as possible, and still appreciate all you guys do.

The fact that we report any of our activities is because WE feel we should, not because we are required to. Zuperman choose us because he felt he could trust our judgement. He made his decisions based on input from you ( the forum membership at large). The bottom line is, please have a little more faith in us and remember that there is always at least two sides to every story.

Our responsibility as Moderators is to Zuperman.

Still, Utah has a good point. But in this case, the reporter (who has high cred) has a lot of respect for Alex and wanted to handle this more privately than the Blacklist thread. I think that's an error, because you can see the ensuing problems that resulted from lack of transparency. But I'll leave it to him to identify himself, if he wants to. I have PM'd Alex, but have not heard a peep. Going back to --J--'s point, this requires a bit more trust in the mods that we are taking some things at faith, from people who are extremely believable when they report specifics o

We all agreed that transparency is warranted in most situations.
It's something we as a group agreed to do, not something we are required to do.

Lets say there is a mod who is abusing their authority (for argument sake). The issues should be presented to Zuperman. It's up to him to consider the facts and act. Making accusing statements, true or false, on the forum is not effective nor conducive toward a real solution.

Actually they both exist, and Pass The Gas is still showing as banned. But since Pass Some Gas made the convenient connection back to his previous ban, both his logins are banned. Indefinitely.
