Hi!

As you know on the latest version of the game the option to pick sides on WW2 was removed. The reason was simple, almost nobody played them except for point harvesting because everyone would pick a side and nobody would play on the other. I've seen it constantly and obviously the people that just wanted to play for fun were not happy about this.

So I'm working on a better system and meanwhile on the next update i'm allowing again for subscribers to pick sides. In exchange the first WW2 airplane is almost free (25000 points instead of the 150000 it was before). I believe almost anyone that arrives to level 17 has 25000 available, otherwise even the cheapest coin purchase covers that. I hope that adds more players join the WW2 and it's more balanced. Otherwise I may have to block the selection again because the game is not designed for point harvesting, it's for fun game play.

The other thing I want to mention and that nobody seems to notice is that your squadron on the game now has the description and a banner visible to everyone. Just go to the squadron section in the game and select any squadron from the list. If you have editing privileges, select your squadron and tap the "dogfight" banner (the one on top of the squadron list) and a popup will display that allows you to pick a graphic. Just select your squadron banner and it will be uploaded for everyone to see.

Give it a try, it adds more flavor to your squadron. It also helps me test it because the next step if this works is to allow for you to add custom paints to your airplanes. But if nobody uses it... not gonna waste much time working on it :P

I am liking not being able to choose vs what it was, better than I thought I would. I would love for you to build in some logic to try to get squad mates on the same side if and whenever possible. I know, easier said than done.
I have experience lopsided teams even after the update. Not sure why, but it happens.

I occasionally play an other flying game and you have to wait for a short time in a pregame que until enough players log in. This might give you some options on placing squad members on one side. You wouldn't want the que wait time to be too long. Might only be two players active.
Just a thought.

Zup, what size of banner do we need? I have added a photo as a test and all you can see is a very small portion of the photo. Check our squadron Gunners Inc. and you'll see what I'm talking about. Here is the photo that I used:

I suppose 750 by 150 will be fine.

It doesn't have a specific size, but it has to be on that "shape". If you upload a picture it gets resized to that shape. Something around 750x200 should look fine I guess (the resolution is different on each phone, tablet and computer, that's why you should be guided by the shape more than pixels, the official word for it is aspect ratio which is about 5:1 I think)

SE Dailey created three versions all of that specific size, but of then reduced in file size 75%, 50%, and 25% but neither one actually works. You'll see what they look like on the GI Squad list.

There's something else going on here.

I refuse to play elite until that update comes out. The ability to choose sides will bring me back in. For now, it's df1. Thanks zup

Some device's work other's don't Samsung Galaxy S5 dones nothing when adding a banner on the squadron page, i also made two banners both different sizes one 700×200 same as my banner below and one at 700×75 the smaller one of the 2 looks better but still can't see 90% of it.
That one was put up with a ipad mini which did give me an option to move and resize the photo i picked but did nothing, if you look at the misfits one you will see what i mean.

On the squadron page you can only see the airplane that's in the left corner of the banner. Size 700×75

To clarify, the first image I sent was based on BlueFighter's suggestion of 150x750. The three additional images are in fact smaller in size (75%, 50% and 25% of original size) which also causes them to be smaller file. I don't know which one was posted when you looked at them Zup.

Try uploading direct jpg file instead of link..

I think photobucket or tinypic make image link as per the format you selected in its setting. That may be the reason it explode out of proportion when you put it in squad banner

I used MS word box 1"H x 6"W to create the banner, saved it in pdf format and converted the same to 150 dpi JPG image.

Check NLR squad banner.

I downloaded it from photobucket onto my computer, then moved it to my iPad, then uploaded it, thus I'm not using the link to put it into the squad banner area. SE Dailey made them and can possibly find another way to deal with them, not sure. Or I will see what I can do with downloading it, and then converting it within GIMP.

Thanks

The last batch I sent you were 750x200 @ 96 dpi. Those images and ALL previous images that I sent were 96 dpi, edited through Gimp, and either 750x200, 750x150 or smaller.

Still doesn't work.

I downloaded the same one that Zup used for his squad (one of my banners referenced above). It was at 120dpi, so I scaled it down to 96dpi using GIMP. It also was a little larger than 200, so I scaled that down to 200, now everything should be within the limits (750x200 @ 96 dpi).

Exported it to jpeg file. Emailed it to myself so that it would be on the iPad, uploaded it to the squad banner area and it's still screwed up. I think it's a glitch within Dogfight.

That could well be . . . if it's on the same servers that the forum runs through, I've haven't been able to get images to scale on the forums since the great update.
