If only growing up was as easy as that. It's not as simple as a passage of time, or a decision or event. Its not guaranteed to everyone, and unwelcome to some. It needs not be announced or celebrated but is noticed. Let us see it and belive it.

Once you asked if I would be in your Moraf game. I'm still waiting and sincerely hope to see it. It's good to see you again, now show us that you've grown.

I did that at one point in my life for that very reason, it's not a magic bullet but it does go a long way in the process. I wish you all the luck in the world and I hope you keep your head down and your eyes open and stay safe.

It's a big step that can force some maturity, personal accountability, respect, and self-discipline on you . . . but as pmoon says "it's not a magic bullet."

It is a place where they keep you pumped up, feed you for free, cloth you for free, house you for free, doctor you for free, pay you a minimum of about $1600 a month . . . and release from post way to often with little or no (real) adult guidance or supervision. Don't do stupid things, and don't go along with the stupid guys, and remember that alcohol makes everyone get stupid if they drink enough of it . . . and you might come home with more positive growth than negative outcomes.

Earlier today, I put three stitches in a young LCpl's index finger who accidentally cut himself while drunk. Unfortunately, common sense isn't entirely taught in boot camp! There are always lessons to be learned, no matter where or when you are in life. Get the most out of your experience, and best of luck!
