I no u can lock threads ......stop people postin on them

but is it possible ..to lock squad thread from bein able to be seen by others outside the squad....

that way squad players can post what they like on there thread(within there rules)

and the squad mods ...can let who they want outside the squad to post there...by permission thro a pm...

i.e a list players that can post on that squad thread......

that way it mite stop people goin on other squad threads an takin a dump there an causin problems ...

I no this means wen applyin to a squad u cant do it thro postin on squad thread..(so apply by pm to squad officers)

Very well put Fallen, it is all about respect. When a post is made on a squad thread it is not an invitation for the whole forum to comment, especially if it is a snarky smart a$$ comment that is insulting to one of the squad members. At the same time I don't think that we should stop people from leaving a helpful or congratulatory comment to our members. If someone has a problem with a squad member it should be sent in a pm to the squad leadership.

I see it as the responsibility of the squadron moderators to keep the threads clean. If a member from another squad comes in and leaves a comment the mod can just delete the post. I have deleted a few, but have also left a few stand, depending on the circumstances. Sometimes negative comments can be beneficial, serve to unite the squad even, and should be left alone. Other times removing the offensive post is the proper way to react. I have used my moderator status to edit posts, changing cuss words to clean words, etc.

Personally, I want folks other than just my squad to have access to our squad page. It is good PR and helps with recruitment.

Whether you like it or not, or agree with it or not, I truly believe the content of the Misfits thread, their good natured antics, their constant ribbing one another, screenshot posting, pinup girls, etc. was a positive for their squads growth. Folks likely read a few pages and said "that looks like a fun group" and put their requests in to join up. Shoot, everyone I talk to visits misfits page regularly for the entertainment value... those guys are downright funny.

Therefore I feel squad pages should be open for all to see. The individual mods are responsible for policing the content.

The current "kerfuffle" isn't just because of the pin-up girls. It's because the bickering has become so bad that it is becoming such a hassle for zuperman to host the forum and world chat that he would be better off, following his peers recommendations, and closing them altogether.

The user agreement is vague when it comes to what is appropriate or not. In the real world these definitions eat up countless hours and resources so public officials can define what is "smut" and what is art. Zup doesn't seem to want to take it on, who would?

What he sees is people's emails and reports. Lately there have apparently been many such issues that have taken zup's time and attention. Some are surely valid but there have also probably been many vindictive reports: "Yeah, just look at what they're doing over here!" It's like we're kids fussing in the back seat on a long car ride and dad has finally had enough "Don't make me come back there!"

At this point who did what is not the issue. It all just needs to stop or someone is going to get smacked.
This same thing happens when anything gets out of hand, be it disagreements that turn into insulting trash talk or complaining about people ruining games while playing within the rules.

"Dad" has had enough for a bit and doesn't want to hear any lip for a while. If we keep bickering he's going to pull the car over and we may never get to Wally World. If we can chill out the fun can get back on track.

I play this game for the social aspect. The game is fun, but it's not the graphics, the missions, the realism that keeps me engaged. I like the squad interaction. I like teasing. I like the hyper prudes like Swop that can't handle pg joking. I like the people that get way too serious. If the forum goes, I won't be far behind. Not a threat, just how it is. This game's market is old guys with credit cards. Old guys want to play an easy, non technical game, and talk trash a little bit. This environment is decidedly unfun. The Forum may he a pain in zups ass, but it is what the customer wants. Hope it works out.

TX nailed it ! Its for older playes not one kid I have tried to get to play the game likes i it's to slow paced it's boring they say. I heard them all. The kids that I do run into in the game are the ones with the bad mouths and always team killing or bombing their own hanger.

Those who agree with this should understand that, if the forum gets removed, the social side of the game goes with it. When I joined, this was not just a place for adults to gather and share their content. It was once fun and friendly for all ages at the same time. We have actually had many young players, many of which are "adults" now. They were welcomed, even though many had poor behavior, they were mentored instead of told to leave. Digital man caves do not belong here, never have.

There are hundreds of places to set up a private, invitation only, area with rules of its own. This forum however, is not here to host private groups.

Nice try Fallen , but it ain't ever gonna happen , one person is enforcing the rules their way, if squads were allowed to run their own threads the way they want, then that person would lose most of their power and they will never accept change because of that. Things need to change and evolve but if people can't understand that then I fear for the future of this community.

Forum rules apply to all parts of the forum. I remember when wig was banned, he insited that all banners, artwork, even the M.O.M. name, were made by him were his "intellectual property" he wanted it removed, even the banners he made for others. We all can see how far he got with that.

I never agreed with it, but I would say he got pretty far there is barely a scrap of his stuff left. The logo is different, the artwork is different, The poster are period specific to the game. I've been very careful to not use his stuff but yet keep the same feel of the squad.

He even wanted the name and logo taken from the remaining members.
