I've moved the following post to this thread, where I believe it is more relevant...
Hello everybody, may I present something that may be beneficial to everyone? This can help for the future, to address what's going on here, and prevent fiascos later down the line.
In the Navy, we've got a system set up for solving conflict within a command. It's called the IRS. No, it's not those shady folks who take your money. IRS stands for the Informal Resolution System.
So how does it work? Well, when two parties (individuals, groups, or a combination of the two) have some sort of issue, the preferred method of solving said issue is with this IRS.
Simply put, you bring up the issue directly with the other person/party. A majority of the time, they may not be aware that a problem even exists. Tell them! Most likely, they'll hear you out, a solution will be reached, an ordeal will be prevented, and you'll both go on your merry way. Don't skip the IRS! Give each other a chance to solve problems together. When this works out, you'll be able to forgive the other person, and if they are mature, they will appreciate and trust you a little bit more for approaching them in a tactful way.
Sometimes, directly confronting the other person/party does not work. They may have refused to reach a satisfactory solution, or chose to completely ignore you, or they downright insulted you in return.
Don't go hollering to the Commanding Officer (Zuperman / Global Mod) just yet! Utilize your Chain of Command. There are others who are willing to help. The trick is to go from the bottom, to the top, in order of influence. Do you have a problem with a member/(s) of a squad? Tell the squadron leader/mods. Have an issue with some troll in game? Take screenshots, and submit their name to the Blacklist thread so other players can help straighten them out. Are you a new player and see something you don't like? Tell an experienced player. They will know how to approach the situation!
Also, when utilizing the IRS, don't start ranting all over the place, insulting people left and right, and yell so loud the CO finds out anyways! You shouldn't be trying to start a fight. Think about what to say and how to say things before you do.
The IRS exists for a reason. It allows a command to self-regulate itself without needing the attention of the people "Up Top". It builds an atmosphere of trust and consideration, which is absolutely critical in a military environment. Perhaps most importantly, it is beneficial to everybody who uses it!
What happens when you've exhausted your options, and the IRS proves ineffective? In the Navy, that's when you file a Formal Complaint. This will go straight to the Captain, and in the words of the Honorable Joseph Biden, it will a "Big F**king Deal". Now, I'm not saying it is NEVER okay to approach a moderator or Zuperman. Sometimes it is necessary. However, under the vast majority of circumstances, conflict can be solved with the IRS.
So, think about the consequences of how you approach conflict. When the CO finds out, everybody is screwed in some sort of way. It becomes a whole mess! The conflict may effectively be resolved, but nobody will have a say when the Captain puts their foot down. They won't ask "How do you want me to solve this problem?" They'll take the matter into their own hands, people may not like the solution they impose, and it will leave behind a sour note. Sides will be taken, and trust will be lost, especially if so many are involved.
One of the first failures that people can make in these situations is forget that we are all on the same team. We have the same mission, and fight the same fight. Unit cohesion is regarded as something of utmost importance, and we all have to do our best to make sure it is maintained.
Be mature, tactful, respectful, and considerate. Use the IRS. Don't tell the CO unless it is absolutely necessary, and only as a last resort. I respect every one of you and I want us all to enjoy each other's company. Put a little faith in one another, and stop the animosity.
