Fellow DogFighters and Friends,

Something changed and I have to address it. Things I know--I love this game and would like to have seen DF1 last forever. It has been stated it was not possible and here we have Elite. OK, I've adjusted.

The Forum has taken a turn I've never seen before. Members are missing, squads aren't posting as often and new players rarely show up. Rarely.

In the past, I'd see a lot of new players begging to join a squad of their choice. Not any more.

Perhaps it's a combination of things: DF1 still up and running, Elite with many changes and squads taking all this out on each other.

No one wants to see the Forum shut down, but if I were a new player to this game I would have zero clue what is going on. It used to be an active and welcoming place to learn about the game.

I don't have the answer to how to fix it, but it needs to be fixed.

Suggestions welcome. Or we can watch it fizzle.

got be honest ......I used to do threads or join in on gud thread...... now I only ...

say gratz an well done ..if that what thread bout ...many threads I leave alone ...

it 2 easy for thread to go bad ...starts off ..with gud intentions..then becomes slag feast..

we used have hoh ..all people involved with that made effort to do sumthing for forum...

Fallen, you make a good point. PM used to be the way people handled upset. In fact, many Morafs in charge of squads required it or took care of the upset.

MISFITS-Always funny and many have helped me over the years.
T-Rex's squad...gee, where did he go?? It was fun and it was always full of newbies wanting to join. Hell, T-Rex took all the newbies!

Maybe World Chat use has made the forum less used? Except to vent about nasty exchanges that took place on World Chat

You make a good point Dire , Fallen and beware . I see certain people dominate world chat these days with all sorts of crap an lewd or negative comments . Seems to be dominated by certain people out to cause trouble at any cost . I often ponder about why they seem to spend most of their time on the chat site and not much of their time playing the game . Then I see these same people putting comments on or starting threads on the forum to seemingly try to get the same result that they try to achieve on WC . WC was fun a long time ago when it was just used to say good game or good morning how are you and we had a lot of fun with just a quick touch of base after the game . Nowadays I see it turn into more of a dating site on WC . Why do people have to tell others they have no clothes on or ask for personal info such as phone numbers and flirt etc . Are these people aware that there are sites like Face Book etc where they can do this and keep this place clean for the people that actually come here to game . Maybe I am being old fashion with my values but I did prefer the days where we kept it clean and seemed to have some morals about this site . Could also be the tall poppy syndrome where others see success in squads like Dire has mentioned and as they fail to achieve this their whole objective is to pull others down to their level . But then again maybe I am wrong in how I see it and this really is only my opinion , others may shed a clearer light on the subject . Now back to laying the game my friends as this is what I come here to do

I have always tried to avoid WC due to the content and other nonsense which I witnessed when I started. However, depending on who is there WC can be a good time. I know squad chat used to be lively and fun, but not many seem to use that anymore. I can only speak for WP in that regard, but it also seems that WC lags a bit with elite, which could be part of the problem. You type a reply, and wait to see it posted. I don't generally have the patience to wait for an extended reply.

If I want to communicate about the game, 9 times out of 10 I'm doing so on the forum, not WC. Like Dire said, forum traffic seems to be down, but so does WC. I have also noticed that I can have extended periods of inactivity and retain my rank, which tells me lack of players.

I cannot help but think the community as a whole was "fractured" when elite launched and it was announced df1 would be done away with. Some are on one game, some on another, and even more likely have left altogether.

The only "fix" I see is to remain active on the forum as time permits. Personally I try to make a daily post, just to keep everything moving. You all are right, though. It takes no time to catch up on stuff, unlike the days before the split.

Great Post buddy. You hit the nail on the head. When I first started I had so much help from players from a number of different squads. Guardian from 111th recruited me and I am very thankful for my time with that squad. Heroicz and all his eccentric characteristics also helped me a lot with flying as a noob. Nebular, Eagle, Comet, CC, and many others. Then Wolf Pack took me into the Den. Many Turnfight lessons with Dunc, Head on lessons with Lunas, and a lot of support and welcoming positive feedback from the whole pack. I have tried to act accordingly towards other new players and help them when and where I can. Things that we help this game most are Posts just like this. Bring on the good vibes. Shake off any frustrations with other players, the game, and Zup. Lets get back to shooting the heck out of reds and have fun doing it. The game is not perfect and will never please everyone's wishes. But lets admit, there is not a game out there I enjoy as much as this one, and this group of peeps. T-Rex left the game after losing the War On Thugz. As per terms of surrender, he relinquished control of JAF to us, which we promptly shut down.

last i heard from TREX was he was going into hospital for a cochlear implant he had been approved to get it done and said he would be away a while but a while has passed and he aint back

Not likely. We also made him surrender his game account to us and his roaring privileges. The plan is for Mac/Kappa, who is infiltrating various squads at the moment, to take over the TREX account and rejoin us when the time is right.

Yeah there's to many squads here...in my opinion it should just be 8 squads totally...only the best squads should be aloud...thugz, top hat, mom , nlr, lafayette,gi:s,wolfs and some outsiders to make it more interesting.

That's a good idea, Dix. Maybe we can have a forum vote on which squad makes the 8th & final spot.

We just ask that the spanish speaking players limit their votes to one on the list of preapproved squads.

If we are looking for a happy community, the 8th squad needs to be a target. I remember when I was a kid. I had a tight group of friends, but we were vicious. We would turn on each other in a heartbeat. We kept things happy by inviting a target everywhere. A target was a kid that wasn't necessarily part of the group. We were all nice to the target indvidually, but as a group he existed for us to torment. We should take nominations for the Target Squad, so we can all live happily.

Another idea, we could combine G.I. and Wolf Pack into one squad to free up a spot for Lil's squad. We don't want it to be a total sausage party.

True. I can't remember a sausage fest that didn't end in a fight back in the glory days...

I recall when Wig left, the Mom's had a darn tough time.

No one cheered for their demise or post to limit the number of members of all squads or suggest they combine with any other squad. In fact, many squads and members offered support. I was one of them and sent several PM's hoping all went well.

That's coming back to my original point. We've come full circle trying to figure out what happened. If someone starts a new squad (male or female) or comes close to losing their squad--support them.

Again, new members arrive and we represent this game. Trex might have lost some competition, but I remember he attracted a lot of new players. When it's shut down, so go those new folks.

Right now, there was ONE new person with a question in weeks. One. Not good.

Dire, you know this is sattire, right? There was never a banishing of T-Rex. I imagine life got in the way. Lots of us have players opting out of Elite for now. I don't care how many squads there are. I'm just cutting up.

OK...moving on!

Thinking maybe the Thugz and GI should merge.
GI members joined Thugz in the past so it should be an easy transition. We already have a former GI member who could assist with the logistics and kind hearted thoughts. Both squads also have founding members who have been banned and have returned to elite.

I would like to see the return of the Bombshell Babes, they were always nice to have around in Our Dogfight.

I am happy to help in any way I can. I have reloaded the game and I will be returning from retirement. As a wise woman once said a Thugz or Scallywags work is never done.

I remember a long while ago, NLR and MOM proposed a merging of our squadrons. I don't think many current active NLR members know about/remember this. Everyone was anticipating Squad Wars (one day...), and the NLR wanted to team up so we could have some fun/fair competition when the time came. I think several other squads were attempting to do the same thing.

The merger never followed through, but I remained good friends with Wigbomb. After he was banned, we were concerned with the future of MOM, and Octavia and I saw through with the expansion of the squadron to other online games.


MOM is pretty active in these communities, and in my view, is a pretty successful web-wide gaming community. I am very happy that these friends are able to stick together, even without the prospect of DF being their main conduit. If we can encourage that sense of unity among each other, then I have no fears about our future, wherever it may lead.
