I hadn't seen much of that since bubi left . . . sad to hear it's catching on again. I find it's hit or miss with the DF matches for me; most of them get ruined by people spawn camping for easy kills, but every now and then I luck into one that's worth staying in.

In Elite if you try to autodestruct you have to wait 15 seconds.

You don't have to auto-destruct, you can just pull a bubi and nosedive into the ground. ;) As long as that fourth round doesn't hit, it's a crash not a kill. :pinch:

Very true.

Happened by accident to me and some others in Elite last night. One time were turn fighting and I think we both hit the same tree, and I was one shot away from getting a kill.

But it's sad when people intentionally do it.

I don't like turn-fighting much because my ipad in it's otterbox is very heavy, so after awhile my arms start to get tired. Easier if you're using a keyboard or control pad.

How do you execute a Split S without having a rudder to slide the tail?

In Elite you get points for hits, not just for kills... So even if they manage to preserve their kdr you can still get something for your efforts. ;)

Split S doesn't require rudder.

You're right. Thought about that yesterday afternoon after I posted. It's a throttle adjustment.
Long days, short brain, and the 4 living brain cells I have left were having a ping pong match!

Throttle adjustment? All you do is roll inverted then do a half loop out.

You do need rudder for a proper WW1 Immelmann turn. In aerobatics however an "Immelmann is basically the reverse split s, half loop and roll out at the top.

But don't you throttle back on the down leg then back up when you level out?

In a real life rickety old biplane yes, but only to avoid overstressing the airframe.

I was taught the split S was used to disengage from aerial combat, but in df land I have used it many times to get the advantage on a passing red........

I like the 152s they are fun to fly.

However here in the MileHigh city during the summer months we can't fly them as they don't have enough power for the thin air.
