I think that many will eventually go to DFE. It may take a while but when they can't find anything to fill the hole that was left by DF1, they will come back.

Roy, I've been going for the last two months now....

If you guys 'n girls weren't this great, I would have been going much earlier.

I'm sure we'll all meet up somewhere again, after all......how many combat flight simulators are there for mobile?

ive have been told in world chat and via pm ect that some of the players that have played for years don't care for the bullet drop and i know what they mean i don't like it either. although im not bad at elite the drop requires concentration on the screen and gives me eye strain the new cross hairs improved it and the boxes around the plane. But i still cant play for long periods the like i could in df and the 20 mins for a game is stupid and needs to be doubled i know i just contradicted myself lol

Zup has already said that the 20 minute timer may not be permanent, just a starting point.

I don't mind the bullet drop at all, although it does seem to make for a halfway house where sniping is still possible but less easy than before. My main problem is either my connection or device means the game seems slow, jerky and mushy compared with DF1. The handling in DF1 was so crisp it was a joy to fly the aircraft. In Elite, for me, it's not - although the ease with which many people can get a bead on me in head on, I suspect it's 'faster' for others.

My main problem is that I just enjoy Elite far less than I did DF1, and to tell the truth I've been enjoying Df1 less of late. The community is great, but the flying? I'm kind of tired of it. I'm certainly tired of getting cut to pieces in Elite. Might be time to retire. I made it to MORAF before the old game wound up, so maybe the time is right anyway.

well i think zup is trying to make it more realistic instead of a game and it seems to be less fun and more stress full more like a job than a hobby or pastime lol well im over in elite matt so if you come over say hi

Torn. Don't like the control in Elite. God knows I'm not the best pilot to start with. I'll hang around here a bit, see what happens. Not ready to say goodbye to the Friends I have made. If nothing else, it's worth it to stay.

Luna, we don't know each other, but I find great wisdom in your posts at times. You were the first non active recipient of an HOH Award.
You should come around more often.

As for the HOH, something new and exciting on the horizon now that the games have divided!

Stay Tuned!

I get that, and Zup has done a good job, but for me, DF1 was was more realistic in the critical area of aircraft handling. It was that bit more responsive. In Elite I suspect I have either faced players who have practiced a lot more, or their device/PC allows better responses than I am getting, as it's very sluggish fiddling around to get the bullets on target by which time I'm usually dead, plus there's a lot more taking the four hits before you realise you have. The bullet drop has not helped in that respect. It actually seems to have made sniping better for the sniping experts because it's harder for everyone else. I'd have rather eradicated sniping and kept the gunfire at realistically short ranges, but I may be in a minority of one there.

I haven't made a final decision yet, but I played a long game of DF1 last night, took a lot of screencaps, bowed out with a +2:1 KDR facing some brilliant players, and it felt like a good end to an era. Anyway, retiring from DF will give me more time to write :-)

Cundall, I'm not sure, but I think a lot of the handling may be a lag issue that will hopefully get cleared up at some point. Severe lag is obvious with anything from Star Wars like visual effects to eventual connection loss and screen freezes, but I think that when we're dealing with mild lag is when we may be dealing with sluggish planes.

. . . and you are not alone in your pipedream of realistically short ranges. :)

I hear you there Matthew! I've rarely been playing since losing my tablet... It's amazing how much more work I've been getting done! I really should save my gaming for times of poor weather anyway.
