For us Australians (and New Zealanders) today is a pretty big day. Anzac Day.

Anzac stands for:

A ustralian
N ew
Z ealand
A rmy
C orps

This day celebrates the landing of the Australians on the ground in Gallipoli over 100 years ago. For us Australians it's a pretty big day and I thought it would be appropriate to put it here for everyone to remember with us.

Any Aussies or Kiwis that play this game let me know by replying here so that we can all see our closest brothers.

There's at least 5 ANZ'rs that I know of.
Probably there's more.

If someone wants to start an ANZAC squadron, I'll join.
My involvement in DF is intermittent, so I'm not a good choice to head it, but I'll support.
Could be fun.

Don't know how well it would work as a squadron but would be lovely to know who in this game are from either countries, especially those who have a connection with soldiers from the war. The only Australian that I knew of was Ronnie then when I am in a game with Gannet he points out that two others are as well.

Just reply below if your from either nation so we can see who else is with us.

Sorry my knowledge of the ANZAC hymn is a little shaky. They shall not grow old as we that are left to grow old. Are shall not weary then, not the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them. Last we forget.

That was pretty much spot on (apart from what I guess is a few pesky autocorrects). I get to read the Ode at the ANZAC ceremony at school today

I'm Australian an (sitting in the Air NZ lounge in Auckland airport as I type). I personally find ANZAC day has changed from a day of reflection it was in my youth to a day of flag waving nationalism in Australia (not sure I about NZ). I'm sure half the people think that we won the Gallipoli campaign, when in really it is supposed to let us remember the futility and waste of that and all the other battles of the first world war.

You get around! Going to buy one of our sheep farms? ;) ;)
(I was out at the Auck airport yesterday morning dropping my wife off.)

Here nationalism is not as dominant as you describe.
Here its more about remembering dead relatives, friends, soldiers in general, and honouring them.
The documentaries are mainly about bravery, but the fact that it was a disaster does get air time, probably because we can blame someone else for it.

However for most its main attraction is its a holiday.
