I'm often impressed with the cool avatars you guys choose for yourselves.
Thinking about symbolism, I realized that the avatars we choose are how we want others to see us, not how we actually are.

Maybe McFates kilted avatar means he wants others to see him as a man of fashion, comfortable cross dressing, a "with it" metro man? But what is he really like?

Ace Girl, I've always been impressed with the image theme you come up with, but probably you are not actually a smolderingly hot long legged red head. Perhaps you are actually a ....... No, I'll not go there....

And there's lots of other eyecatching avatars I could mention, wolves, eagles.....

Anyway, this thread is a chance to show a little honesty in this forum.
I challenge you all to come up with an avatar that more accurately fits what you actually are, not what you want us to think you are. Take a little time, think what would your friends and family choose for you?

I originally chose the gannet because it is an amazing bird. Designed as the ultimate killing machine (Watch youtubes of it diving).
But if you'd DF'ed with me you'll know I'm dreaming!
I'm actually a school teacher, past retirement age, so I think my pupils would probably choose something for me more like this:

I chose my old avatar because I'd been asked before if it actually was me! I do sometimes wear a kilt and a few years back I looked a lot like the guy in the pic... There are a couple of pics from different festivals of me jammin' on my chrome resonator guitar wearing a kilt and a top hat... "Steam punk" style. I'll post one if I can find it.

Basically, when it comes to kilts, there are men who will wear one and there are those who wish they had the guts to wear one.

I've worn kilts before. The most memorable one was a wedding at Bishop's Castle. Hot day, wool kilts. Found an airy place to cool our loins. Was a wrought iron walkway over the entrance, and the breeze was blowin just right! Looking at the view was awesome! And then we heard the giggles. Japanese tourist bus had shown up, and they were all taking snaps of our nethers!

Still though. Breeze felt good.

Forget your existing avatars for the moment. They are all great, but
