Tanks have had some odd glitches over the history of dogfight.

There was once a glitch which would randomly launch your tank into the air about as high as the beacon in a capture the flag game. It would hurtle and spin, sometimes you could get a lucky shot and hit the carrier while airborne. Shooting red tanks was like shooting skeet... "Pull!"

Which glitches made you laugh?

I remember that. It was when u climbed into one on top of water in btc games. I also remember being able to get into your tank in same btc game and get one shot off before respawning back on your home carrier.

What about the zeplin that would stay anchored at alloed base. You could run into it and make it flip and spin, but it would never leave that base. And i guess when the games internal clock went off and it started dropping its bombs at alloed base the german hangers would catch fire.lol

Oh yeah, I'd forgotten about that! Sometimes the tank would be able to drive under the water. People were taking advantage of it and shooting the carriers from below....meanwhile planes couldn't do a thing about it.

Ghost ship?

You mean when there would be no water but the carrier would still fly along it's course? I had some good screenshots of that on my Kindle. I once had a dogfight where we were chasing each other around and underneath the carriers. It reminded me of the anime "Star Blazers" . Where the WW2 Japanese Battleship "Yamato" was turned into a space ship.

(Little bit of trivia here. "Star Blazers" was translated from the Japanese "Space Cruiser Yamato" the first serial animae brought to USA television back in the late 70s. It had 2 or 3 seasons with a linear story line. In the original the space crew had brought along saki and would often toast with it and often get drunk, but in the English translation they claimed it was bottled spring water from back home. A live action movie was released a few years ago. Maybe someday Zup will have elite reach into the space age!)

It was nice when the ground level was different from android to apple. For about a month tanks seemed to be underground in spots.

Not really a glitch, but, way back when if you flipped your tank you could shoot at the ground and flip it back over...

lets see, i remember when if you respawned at the unlucky moment you were hit with a tank shell that tank shell would respawn with you and you get hit with it on the runway...although that was a product of lag and glitches.

There used to be a time when windows players didnt have the town, but for a half second flying from the allied base straight for it, you could see it, but as you got closer it dissapeared.

Another one!!! it used to be that in dogfights and bomb the carrier missions if you brought a tank to the enemy base you could "bomb" their hangars, even though they werent there and win if you managed to get all eight.

Yep. In fact, a well placed bomb could get 3 hangars but it wasn't a glitch, though [NLR]*420* says she once got 5 hangars with one bomb with the help of some strange lag!

Zup has made some adjustments over the years:
When you could hit 3, no one was able to carry more than one bomb. When he first announced the change I was apprehensive because I'd figured it would be possible for someone to get 6 hangars on a single run...a game could be over with a single run of two bombers, but he also changed some other things. He made the hangars larger and farther apart and, I'm not certain here, but I think he also made the bomb blast less powerful...I suspect he did because it also seemed to require a much more accurate drop to take out a tank.

Anyway, I remember being shocked when I dropped a bomb perfectly between two hangars and got neither of them! This had been unheard of before. Now it's normal.

It wasn't very long ago that he reduced the damage a tank could do to a carrier from 10% to 8%. And now in elite Zup says he will be changing the damage done by hits on different parts of a plane. I see some players surprised about getting shot down by fewer than 4 hits but it should no be "normal". He mentioned somewhere that he had not fully implemented it yet but that a shot to a wing would have a different effect than a hit to the engine. I wonder if there will ever be a 1 shot kill... like if you got a head shot on the pilot. Lol! I'm sure some people would post about then new 1-hit glitch. "Zup! Please fix it!!!!"

Clusterbombs are banned now by international law. ;)
(Although not in Syria)

I loved the glitch that made you be able fly under the carrier. Was a great feature to Dogfight missions when the water was missing but the boats were there.

Yeah, we should make it a habit of making screenshots of bizar glitches, because who knows........we might gonna miss them.

Oh I fondly remember the time you could upgrade your plane, go into a game and have all your coin back, so then you could leave a game, and upgrade again.

Also, how many got free D8s?

How about that glitch where you are flying toward the reds and suddenly every other plane, tank, chute and soldier is invisible to you, but they can knock the snot out of you, and then after a period of blindness you notice the chatter has stopped, then you finally get a connection lost message?

Haha, just fooling, that's how it is now.

The ones I thought were fun was the flying carriers and the bouncing tanks... the one I hated was the 11 weeks when some Windows players had the slow-turning plane glitch.. grrrr..!

Also remember the one where Everyone was in missions all alone for almost a week? Not fun..

That zep glitch was one of my favorites! It actually made for a whole new game variation, a ferocious turnfight battle.

While df, ctc, ctf and regular zep games make for great turnfights the Zeppelin that stayed at the allied base called for team strategy from both sides. If you were German you would have to fly all the way across the map and take out the zep's engines while it was hovering directly in front of the spawning allied defenders. Since you had to fight your way there, you would often have already taken a hit or two and have depleted your ammo some, and each time you shot down an allied red it would respawn in the best place to continue defending. If you spent your ammo fighting planes it could take several runs to destroy the zep even after the engines were gone.

It could be cool to have some sort of bombing game that had one team as dedicated attackers and the other as defenders. It would be different from a btc because it would focus on one location with a heavily strategic differences in how each side needed to play to get a win. How about if a convoy of AI tanks would spawn on from the German side and make its way across the map. The German planes would have to defend the convoy while it got in range to attack the allied base. There could be a set number of convoy vehicles, once they were all destroyed the win would go to the allies... I suppose it would be like a zep game but with a ground attack instead....If you got shot down you could join the convoy or fight it from your own tank. It seems like AI Anti Aircraft guns could be part of the game too.

When I started playing DF the practice missions had AI tanks that could take out your plane... you had to keep moving and avoid their shots....and it was not very easy. A convoy of AI tanks could be tough.

Shall we not forget the invisible wall's! On land and in mid air. That was the worst two and a half weeks I think. Or maybe the time when we had no breaks on the planes or tanks. Planes would roll backwords off the carrier and tanks wouldn't stop when you changed view.

Now I know the Zep we mentioned, But do y'all remember the zep just stay in the air when completely destroyed? Or when the zep dropped it's bombs and didn't destroy all the hangers? Crazy glitches.

lol, this list made my day. Some of these things I've spent weeks trying to figure out why it happened and how to fix them.

And there are so many glitches that never made the light but were hilarious... things I detected before release but I was about to let it through because they were just too funny. Like for instance a flying tank, that would take off and bomb like an airplane. Or the soldier walking like a tank wheel... rolling up and downhill.

This one wins my award as the Glitch with the most poetic justice....it was only a problem for those who were trying to take advantage of a glitch!
:woohoo:

INDY77 wrote: Hey Zuperman.

Sorry to be the barer of bad news but I just got trapped in a glitch due to the west side aircraft carrier.

I was parked inside the hangar toward the bow from the side door and facing toward the back in the albatross and had just turned off my breaks but had not raised power when *420* came in and shot and killed me. I died and was given the option of a parachute even though I was landed. I took it. Then died again instantly or crashed or something. Then was dragged sideways in my aircraft through the ship, accross the map and then through the airport side ways and crashed again sideways at speed and flipped around in the air and still never stopped going sideways. I kept respawning in the same fashion over and over already moving at speed sideways on the ground through buildings and dying after being flipped around a few times and crashing. I finnally got the power up and controlled the plane into a takeoff during a flipping cartwheel and was able to stay in the air but was still being dragged sideways and had very little control. It reminded me of the same movement patern the carriers move in...

I got dragged and thrown into a map wall and crashed, then was dragged dead and burning all over the map...

If you can look up the game this happened at about 12:40AM PST (estimated).

Good luck with the issue.

Indy

INDY77

Zup actually made note of it in case he wanted to bring it back some day. :woohoo:

zuperman wrote: "I got dragged and thrown into a map wall and crashed, then was dragged dead and burning all over the map..."

this actually sounds like a fantastic future release lol

seriously, yep, i found it... it's a bug that only happens if you parachute and land on the carrier.
i'll be fixed shortly, but until next update, just don't parachute on the carrier... unless you want to be dragged to dead and burning all over the map...

People would probably think twice before glitching. No?

Ah yes....the flying tank:

Or the rapid fire WW2 tank?

How about the tank vs a Zeppelin?
(Hey Zup, what is that twin tail plane that goes by at :20 seconds ? Is it one that will be coming back in elite?) :cheer:

How about the WW2 tanks? They'll be coming back, right? They were a lot of fun to drive...much faster that the WW1 tanks. I like how the elite tanks don't tip so easy but they definitely don't drive as well. I used to be able to drive the WW2 tanks up Duckwing Mountain but couldn't get the traction in the small one, even in elite. Lol.

Best glitch I remember is when I was on windows phone I had unlimited bombs for like two days I reported it to zup after I dropped bombs from German base all the way to Allie base and took out all the hangers too to win it was a solo game so I took avange of it to show zup screenshots but yeah
