Happy New Year, everybody! While it is actually my birthday on New Year's Eve of my physical body, the birthday I am more concerned with is the day I first started playing Dogfight. Why? Because, little did I know it, but a whole new world of people and experiences started on that day. My direct Boss in Wolf Pack, VIPER10, when we were discussing what to do about a problem, commented that I shouldn't be too hard on that person because , after all, "...it was just a video game". Viper was right, but it bothered me, and it caused me to think about what is special here in this world of ours. I realized something that seemed profound to me: the game is what we do, but the reason we are here is the people. We make choices here every minute about what we say and what we do, and character is revealed whether we like it or not. I truly like so many of you out there because of the character I see. It's the culture here that I enjoy, saying hello, kidding around, trying to do better, being delighted when I have a good game and miserable when it's bad.
My birthday of DF is Jan.5, 2015, so I turn 1 year old in less than a week. In talking to all of you, I've been surprised how many of you recall your own D.O.B. for Dogfight quite clearly. So, it's not just me! My reason for downloading this app was to start learning how to fly and because I have been a nut about WWI dogfighters since I was a kid. Getting to shoot people was an unexpected bonus, lol. However, I found swiftly that I was the one getting shot, and that got my competitive instincts boiling.
So, my reason for writing all this is to really say "Thank You!" to all of you who share this strange new world with me. I suspect that every one of you has a story which would be fascinating to hear, and I would love to hear it if you would care to share it here. Owwwooooooohhhhhhh!
