An old player I "used to know" got mad when another player told him he should play a certain way. I play the game just fine, ask anyone who has played against me.

Ok, I've stayed off here because the whole thread was actually about some clown that decided to use the tank glitch and try to finish a game that Davy was trying to get his 200 thousandth kill and get 18 million points in. He was repeatedly asked politely to go find another game. The guy was an absolute moron.

Now we have a big debate over 13 year old kids. And the typical back and forth crap that occurs every time somebody feels the need to try to drive his point home over and over and over and over again. Gimme a break and go take the crusade somewhere else. The thread was about something else anyway.

Tell you what though, if there's a 13 year old kid being a jackass on the forum, it's probably not because he's an unfortunate soul with a hard life. It's because his parents are too busy to check and see what he's doing.
Unfortunate souls with hard lives don't have Internet and gaming equipment do they? Or has the definition changed?

Nobody's being a non understanding bully here, and I find it ridiculous that every time more than a couple Misfits chime in on a thread to back each other, it's perceived as such.

Sorry guys, I guess I should give you kids a break. With all the crap that goes on sometimes its hard to remember that everyone comes here to have fun. I'll give more benefit of the doubt and not jump on every one I think is out of line. Who am I to judge anyway? Please do your best to extend the same courtesy to all, especially the new comers and young ones. Dogfight is a good community compared to so many other online games, I sincerely hope it stays that way.

Davy was having a milestone game that most players will never reach. I don't care if NOLA had to wait 24 hrs to get into his next game. He should have left especially after having it explained to him and it sounds like they did just that, and nicely I may add.

It's a simply thing to understand. Davy wanted to share this moment with the players he wanted there. I would have done the same and in fact, I did do the same in the game when I became MORAF.

I'm not looking to ruffle any feathers, just sharing some new concepts.

As for homeless or disadvantaged youth, a surprisingly large portion have either smart phones or WiFi connectable digital devices. Many studies can be found with a wide array of estimates on % who have them. About 60% in my local community are connected and are very active on facebook and other social media. Many shelters have WiFi and many congregate around free hotspots.

The following 4 year old article is from USC. It is aimed mostly toward mobile phones but there are some other statistics as well.

Study finds 62 percent have cell phones; potential to use technology to reduce homelessness, professor says

For teens without a home, paying the monthly subscription to a data plan for their smart phone is just as important as eating or a drug habit, according to Eric Rice of the USC School of Social Work, whose study was published in the December issue of the Journal of Urban Health.

Rice sees potential in using existing technology to extend the safety net for homeless youth. Social media and cell phones are tools rarely used today, in part because it was not known if, or how many, children without a home or a job could access the internet.

“Homeless youth are not hopeless cases,” said Rice, the lead author on the study. “They don’t have to be lost.”

Homeless youth are different from many homeless adults in that the teens have fewer mental and substance abuse problems that may be hurdles to getting off the streets and returning to a more stable environment, Rice said. Staying in touch provides more opportunities to find a stable home.

“Cell phones have changed what it means to be a homeless teen as these youth can look for help beyond the streets,” Rice said. “If you don’t have to steal to get a meal, the chances of you going to jail decrease.”

The study, “Cell Phone Use Among Homeless Youth: Potential for New Health Interventions and Research” found:
• 62 percent of homeless youth own a cell phone.
• 51 percent use cell phones stay connected to friends from home and 41 percent connect to their parents.
• 36 percent use the phone to call current or potential employers.

This study is Rice’s fourth in an ongoing look at teen homelessness. He earlier found that 85 percent find a way online, either though the phone, libraries or youth agencies.

Similar studies on a smaller scale have replicated the findings in Denver and New York.

Alex Lee and Sean Taitt of USC were co-authors on the study.
