Wow.. really? You consider that a proper tactic? I know a lot of outlooks on tactics have changed with recent new missions, but spawnkilling with a tank next to or on runway I thought was the only definite no-no in the game that couldn't be used?

I only spawnkilled once and that was an accident cause I was shooting at the hanger and once my shell left the barrel he spawned in and hit him and didn't go through him and they kept spawning after I kept shooting and I finally got the hangar I was shooting at
They reported me for there mistakes I wasn't trying to shoot at them I was trying to shoot the hangar

No zebra..lemme clarify...I will use my tank to get the flag if necessary even if in the process I took down planes...now I won't just sit th there and sk...but I won't be a sitting duck either.

Gotta admit you go me a bit nervous too with the first post. Your clarification makes sense to me. I can justify a tank s.k. 1-3 times while making a run for it. More than that then I have to say it's just wrong.

It wouldn't suprise me if you made it from your base to the enemy base and back in tank to win the game. Well maybe that's pushing it a bit, but you get the picture.

After you wrote "Spawnkill", I told you "You must be kidding"...

Maybe I am wrong (I hope I am not) but what I did is not considered "Spawnkilling"... I was in the run to the enemy base to CTF... I shot you down in the air and then when you were close obviously you were more vulnerable and you died twice before I CTF and returned to my base...

I did this to illustrate (sorry about my designing skills lol)

If a person is coming in to bomb or to capture the flag, and they are laying down suppressive fire and kill you, that is not considered spawn killing, so don't cry about it.

If you can't get off the ground, just lock your brakes and wait.

Lol ! That's one of the game's auto rule enforcement mechanisms. Zup made it so tanks can't be on the runways to prevent people from parking on the spawn points. That's actually a great example of an unintended consequence for coding in rules.

What Treppo did to you is 100% right. His explaination was fine too but I will try to make it easier for you to understand.

When someone is on approach to complete a run, such as capturing the flag or bombing, then yes spawn killing is acceptable. The person that is being spawn killed doesn't like it, noone does, but we understand why it is being done. After a player completes the run and leaves they did the fair thing. If that player completes the run and decides to continuously spawn kill after that then that is wrong and considered unfair spawn killing.

I hope I made this clear to you and even Zup himself agrees with this as do the higher ranked experienced players.

Eagle is also right in saying put your brakes on if you dont want to be killed on the approach. There is no reason why this doesn't work for you. It leads me to believe that maybe you think your brake is on but actually isn't. Press the brake button on until you are absolutely sure it is on and you will not be killed by bullets. I often don't do this because if I can even get one shot on the enemy it will make it easier for me when I do finally get up. I will put them on when I know for sure that there is nothing I can do but wait it out.

Then how do you reload? From what I am hearing from you sounds like you are saying you can not ever put your brakes on. If this is true then there is a problem and you may want to consider uninstalling and reinstalling DF.

Spawnkilling from plane or tank has always been a contentious issue. Zup has made many changes to the game to try to fix the issue and in some cases he ended up changing things back. At this point it is what it is and we've just got to deal with it in game.

To protect against spawnkilling planes: set the brake. (It doesn't work against bombs or tank shells.) Also, understand that this only works on a "blue" base or carrier. If you're in a btb you only spawn at the blue base so no problem, but in a dogfight you can also spawn at a "red" base where the brakes don't provide immunity. Same for a capture the carrier game, brakes only provide immunity at your base or on a carrier that has already been captured.

There is no protection against spawnkilling tanks. Zup has made it so tankers automatically respawn if they drive onto a runway. He also removed hangars from dogfights so tanks could not hide in them as they spawn kill. At one point he considered eliminating tanks from dogfights altogether but thankfully he reconsidered. Goofing off in tanks during dogfight missions can be a lot of fun.

I encourage everyone to be patient, play it as a game, don't get all riled up and offended. Is it really so bad if someone gets a few cheap kills? Unless it really stops the game and leaves you with no options just go get 'em. It's a war game. People are bound to try to exploit advantages. Your job is to figure out how to counter them. If they get you in a particular game just remember, learn and don't let it happen next time.
