Wumper I have found the tank shots to be playing the same as before. I think when you hit the front of an attacking plane and see the burst it is because the planes bullets have exploded the shell ahead of the plane.
Also If a plane has had a couple of previous hits he will go down easier with a not so perfect aim.
I find just keep doing your same aiming and your kills will start again.
I was having a plane drop a bomb on me and believe it or not I shot the bomb the other day. Now that is what I call a great shot, no I mean FLUKE. Hope this helps. Good Tanking to you. :)

shots exploding on a plane is usually network lag. I see it happen (on the rare occasions I hit a plane) and I've had it happen when I'm the one in the plane.

in the plane, what I see is a tank shell that I just manage to dodge, or just misses (and I mean just), but the guy in the tank thinks the got a hit, the slight delay means we see two different things and when the server does the math, it says, no that shell really missed, and the server is the ultimate umpire for these things.

I too have been having trouble with the tank lately. If I ever see the shot explode on a plane I know that they won't die... to be perfectly honest, only about 10% of all my tank kills have been from an exploding shell if not less. I hate that you have to intentionally miss in the right spots, but it seems to me that the lag lately has been changing the sweet spot around in some games. Sometimes its above the wing, sometimes its between the wings, sometimes its about 30 feet above them. I have hit someone in front of me with the tank shell, it exploded, and the guy behind him died. Sometimes you gotta laugh at just how obscure some of these shots can be. Don't give up sir wumper, you are not alone :)

When shell explode you will not get a hit. but as Arthoman said, it may be the bullets but not always. Some times plane is high and going straight even then shell explodes. There must be some other reasons too other then bullets. Sometimes head on blast will not register kill. So keep trying as we do get tank shot kills.

As Zup said, its all about physics, and the bullets ARE objects that, like any other, interacts. I noticed that, if you aim right at the middle of the plane, chances are that the enemy's bullets will blow the tank shell in the air before it hits the plane.

By the way, I remember playing against Cptn Noushbag, tank versus tank, we were just few metters from each other, and we managed to fire at the same time, and our shells aparentely hit each other in middleway. It happened with me another time, I believe it was against Parrot Head, if not wrong. Yeah, twice... I used to play a lot in the early years... lol

And in other game, I was defending my carrier against a swarm of reds, and I stongly believe I managed to shoot and hit a bomb dropped from a red plane in middle air, right before it land on my ship... A great save. Of course, at the pace of the action, I can not be sure if it really happens (cuz it could be, for example, a lag explosion against a misplaced laggy plane), but even the red attacker said something like "wow, you blew my bomb in the air".

Tip: when trying to hit planes from tank, if it comes at your direction, try aiming a little aside, for the wings; and if the plane is not flying towards your tank, try aimning at its "future point", a little ahead of what normally should be, to compensate some lag. Ir works for me, and even these days I keep killing many planes from tank almost every game.

I took the RED PILL!

Hi all….

I also love tanking in game. I agree with Sir Wumper. It happens in this game. For same shot you get kill and sometimes you not. When a incoming plane is too close (right in front of tank) and I fire, shell explodes. When I fire at a straight flying plane and it directly hit at plane’s body, shell explodes and plane continue flying. Something is not right with tank firing physics.

I have noticed many times that if you fire from a tank at the face (including wings) of incoming plane, it will work. But if you fire anywhere other than the face of plane, it won’t work.

I also noticed when shooting a parachute from tank that after getting hit from tank, parachute start spinning rapidly in air. Player in chute did not die. Also he was shooting at me (infact he was spinning round and round very fastly) I didn’t understand how he was firing accurately at me because it was practically impossible.

In my opinion it is probably because of alignment of gaming worlds. In my gaming world I hit that chute so it was spinning. But in other player’s world I missed a little bit so chute wasn’t spinning and ha was firing at me accurately. Sometimes gaming worlds are not properly aligned due to lag and slow internet connection. In case of lag and slow internet connection tank doesn’t work well.

Well, I agree with Sir Wumper to the extent that Tanks are slow, flips over very frequent and not easy to play with.

Also I request to Zupe to at least give tanks some speed and bring down the gravitational point in tank to avoid frequently flipping over.

Thank you.
