T,was a moment early in the morn
Just after night just before the dawn
WC was empty as silent as an owl in flight
I took off into a pale blue sky no one there to fight.

I went up as far as I could see
And fired at echoes coming back at me
No enemy no target no team mate by my side
Just a mass of tumbleweed coming for the ride.

The final stars gave way to the blue of the day
I heard a whisper in the air
The echoes of a thousand screams of pilots downed
All shrieking in despair.

Down below wreckage of 10,000 planes were strewn across the land
The landscape red with long spilt blood like a carpet of the damned
No sun could warm the spectacle below as I descended towards the base
I flew low past a hangar out of which appeared a face.

A bony hand beckoned me to land and follow him inside
I flew up to get away when a hail of bullets appeared from thin air
My plane was hit I was downed much to my despair
I jumped and chuted to the ground.

Every way I tried to escape the base
It brought me back to the spectre face
There was no choice but to go and see
What this ogre had in store for me.

I stood at the hangar it was dark as night inside
And a freezing mist chilled the air in which anything could hide
I walked in and the darkness closed around me like a vice
And a ghostly voice announced "you have played this game for a price"

"You've spent so much time playing this
Your life will never be the same
You see the hours of playing constantly
Has brought your earthly soul to me.

Just then a brilliant light shone bright and in my eyes untold fright
With a sight that would appaul
Portraits of all the pilots past adorned the hangar wall
They were shouting something desperate and unheard
And banging on the glass it was quite absurd.

"You'll notice sir an empty frame and underneath ull find ur name"

Everything went the blackest dark for what seemed an eternity
I awoke in a large room with a tiny window cutting through the gloom
I approached and through it all that I could see
We're the faces of all the pilots staring back at me

I had become another picture in a macabre gallery
I banged on the glass as I could see another pilot walking in as I had done
Unknown to him his terrible journey had just begun.

So if you find yourself playing this game all alone
Beware the dogfight spectre will take you for his own!
