I know, Youtube is full of these documentaries.

But they should be here on this forum aswell.

Maybe learning of how the real pilots lived and died, the "problems" wé encounter while flying will be put into perspective a little.

The following documentary is a very honest account about how WW1 pilots remembered the "Great War"



Feel free to post whatever historic fact, like a photo or documentary you run across in this thread to share with others.

(I've noticed that sometimes a link doesn't seem to be accessable in certain countries, due to copy rights and such. Please point out when that is the case.)

In the former documentary actual WW1 fighter pilots tell the macabre truth why they were not issued a parachute, but a handgun......for one purpose only. Why they were stressed out all the time, even though they were lucky not to be in the trenches.

This documentary compares German most famous fighter plane, the Fokker DR1, with the Sopwith Camel.
Astonishing how the German fighter ace v.Richthofen probably caused the Allied air superiority in the end.

i have been following this youtube channel as they go through the war week by week. new episodes come out each thursday, they need all the support they can get so give it a watch if you have time. here is the most current episode..
