So recently I was called ugly by who people I thought were friends, I had dark hairs on top of my lip so dark I looked like I had a mustache. I am glad to say I have no mustache any longer, but now the jerks who called me ugly became more friendly. That is real shallow, isn't it. The thing is before I was judged, I judged everyone else.

After while I though "This is what it is like for all those kids talked about behind their backs." So I stopped, I said hi back to the people I judged and talked to them. They were pretty nice to.
Next time you judge a person on how they look, think "Do I want others telling me this?" because you don't know how much it can impact them.

And one more thing, if you are judged by the way you look tell you self that your beautiful (or handsome)because we are amazing and beautiful inside and out. If a person tells you your ugly it's not you whose ugly, it's their personality.

If no one tells us we smell funny, we might never know. We might go through life wondering what we are unaware of.
Maybe a real friend should tell us stuff we never knew, never asked about, or might not even wanted to know.
(.....but then again, maybe not.)
The problem might be that we can't handle the truth, can't accept it, and don't know what to do with it responsibly.
Also in our youth we suffer from an extreme self-awareness, so everything we are told is hard to put into perspected or to be ignored.

Sure, you can only give advice to someone you first became friends with.
But a wise person learns a bit form everybody, also those that just critisize to feel better themselves.

Anyway....just thought I'd tell you this. (Just ignore it.)

Interesting thread. I will chip in with a couple of things.

Firstly, the old adage, 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder'. What one person finds pleasing to the eye will not please everybody.

Secondly, you get the 'playground rules' mentality. This is where one person who has insecurities about there own body image will ridicule others to distract from their own flaws. This becomes exaggerated when they hang around with a group who are constantly looking for acceptance into the group. In business and politics, the latter group are known as 'Yes Men'. Personally, when I was in school, I never followed the crowd opinion. I preferred to be the lone wolf rather than the sheep.

Finally, I will expand on your chosen title for this thread. Ugly is not how a person looks, but rather how a person thinks. We all have personal worries and doubts about our body image. That is part of being human. If we didn't, the cosmetic surgery business would have fallen flat. Be happy in your own skin, life is too short to spend it worrying what others think about how you look. The ugliness comes from those who wish to make others feel inferior and upset by ridiculing them.

No ugly is how someone looks. Flat out there are physically ugly people. Doesn't mean I won't like them. Doesn't mean they aren't great folks, but a spade is a spade and unattractive is just that.
