It would be nice to be able to scroll through to any ranking. To be able to search by name or world rank, then to get a thousand at a time with NEXT/BACK arrows to see the next set.
There could be other algorithms:
* If there was some weight to the ratios, all you need to do now to get high in the rankings is to forsake real life for a bit, just keep hitting retry. I made it up to #51 at one point. I just couldn't bring myself to cross that next line.
* If points had "half life" they would lose value over time: they could become worth 1/2 as much after 3 months, it would be a ranking of the current most active players. For now, just imagine: if Davy never played again, how long would it take a dedicated noob to overtake him?
* If other accomplishments were weighed, other skills and commitments would be reflected. If carrier hits or captures counted in some way... If a great defense of the zeppelin would receive more than just not losing... Sure you get points for wins but not everyone can stick around for games that go on and on. There are plenty of good players who aren't able to dedicate their undivided attention to dogfight.
* If you got additional points for "beating the odds." If you got more points if you made it back to base without getting killed... If points were weighed based on how uneven the teams were...
*If the sky was yellow and the sun was blue...
If things were weighed for any particular reason it would probably create more reasons for someone to focus only on certain things. I suppose total accumulated points is as good as any other system. After all, it shows who are the most dedicated Dogfight players of all time. (Well... it shows who has been most dedicated since after Zup made it so you can keep your points even if you don't land.)
