Good question Mr wolf, this is one of my favourite missions it's success is largely dependant on who you fly with. For instance I played this a few days ago and 3 out of 4 of the enemy were in tanks mid map..perfect!! I said leave them as it was 3 planes against one...nope they were insistent on getting kills so for every tank destroyed meant another aircraft to combat.....it's a bit like American football you need ur blockers to fend off attack as you go for the flag..wide flanking is fine but don't forget it's a two way contest you have ur flag to be aware of.my advice have fun very rarely you will have tactitions flying with you, if ur lucky enough to, chat amongst urselves form an attack plan, down the middle is fine but a bit of a slugging contest, up high is better, use distraction take players away.leave the tanks even if they pick up the flag a plane is quicker......

Found it easiest to s£ice up the middle, either somehow get the flag and run for my dear life or i take out most of em leaving the door open for people flanking/high where I've pushed em all the way back to their base and then the rest can come in and clean-up. just funner and easier (especially running).
Hope this helps.

I think sneaking is better tactically speaking. Especially if you operate in pairs. One pair defending, the others sneaking.

If you "slug it" up the middle, you generally are shooting down reds only to have them spawn back in the best place for them to defend their flag. If you do make it to the red base/flag, odds are you will have taken a hit or two along the way so you're somewhat compromised anyway. Once you grab the flag you have to disentangle yourself from the swarm of defenders. If you're lucky, teammates will help fight them back and let you escape. Lots of brute force fighting here.

If you sneak, you arrive at the enemy base with few (or no) defenders and a fresh plane. Use team chat to tell your team to keep the Reds busy (not shoot them down) until you've gotten away from the red base. Once you're out of site of the red base, the only thing you need to worry about are the Reds at mid field or near your base. As long as you and the other blues can out shoot them (sending them to spawn far from the fight) you're free and clear to bring the flag home.

It's no sure bet but it makes sense to me. ;)

Trying and using ALL types of tactics that you & your team can come up with is too much fun! Sometimes they work.. sometimes not. Often times it depends upon the defenders as to what will work for you & your team!

Personally I love to just fly up the middle thru the midst of the dogfighting (and get a couple of kills along the way maybe) but with getting to the enemy base my primary goal.. once there, I like to 'clear the skies' of enemy reds then while they're worried &/or confused on the runway slow down and capture the flag.. praying that during my attempt at a 'getaway' that I have some teammates to 'clear my 6' so I can make it back to our base!
