I have been playing around with the game in the practice missions and I really suck using the keyboard. So my question is what joysticks works ? Help is appreciated .

Well Crazywolf...Yes joysticks work wid 8.1
And Xbox controller directly connects wid 8.1
You can also use Gamepad...

I use arrow keys... a real pain in the... i don't recommend them

I used to play on keyboard but it is terrible when flying at full throttle without a bomb and is useless for trying to get the sweet spot when going for a long range kill. I got myself an Xbox 360 controller for Windows, it has a USB connecter that you just plug into a USB port. This replaces all of the buttons on the keyboard, but it doesn't have a brake, so you still have to hit the 'b' key on the keyboard. I got my controller when I was at level 22 I think, shortly before I equalised my KDR. Now, I wouldn't fly without it.

An Xbox 360 controller is probably your best bet, it requires no calibration and is recognised for use by my laptop within 2 seconds of plugging it in.

If you get one, it will take a few test flights to get used to using it, but it is well worth the investment!

I tried the xbox controller, which admittedly works right out of the box on the win8.1 machines. I had trouble with it as I stopped playing xbox since Halo2 came out. If you are an xbox player I am sure the transition to this game will be fairly easy.

Easy set up, easy to use, and lots of folks use them from what I have heard. I am an arrow key guy.

I played on keyboard up to lvl 21 I think, then bought a Logitech 510 controller. I really liked it but it quit working within a few months. Honest I didn't get mad and chuck it! I decided to get an Xbox controller afterwards which is what I'm using now. I don't own an Xbox...The 2 were just different enough to have to relearn everything all over again. I think the Logitech is a bit easier to use but I didn't want to buy another just to have it break on me. I've heard the Logitech 710 is really good from a few people, but might cost a few bucks more. Too bad a guy can't borrow a few different kinds to see what you prefer!

ive made it this far with the arrow keys (been playing with them the whole time ive been on here for a year) and i wouldnt switch to a joystick, there is just a little trick of knowing where your opponent is going....then aiming there and making a small adjutment....thts what i do....and i mean....it seems to work...or m stats are lying....

go to shop by on open amount ? ( i dont now what u call it ) and test...i tested at least 3 Before i was buyng the longitech...and i dont use it !!! ...cost about $70...

Logitech F710 is the best gamepad. You can get it online. Little practice and you never use keyboard again except pressing "B" for applying brake.

Doggy Dix pls give it a try my mapping it keys as per your convenience. Do let me know if you need any help to set it.

The device u use has a lot to do with ur style & character many has come to find out. What works for 1 person/pilot might not work for the next ? A Gud illustration of that u could use is Royal Flush; =Anubis=; ==LAG==, or what ever u wanna call him ? He made an interesting comment by say'n He plays with the "keys" & wouldn't switch to controller, for he is used to them. Me & some of others might have an opposite opinion ? I've started wit keys, but after having made a successful transition it would be "preposterous" to make that switch.. back ? It's funny although. I.. lke u were convinced that a change would be better. It were..but not at 1rst ? I then found myself having to adjust to a new style, on a new device ! Difficult @t 1rst..but through patients, well worth the wait. Now shall we..

If u choose x-box controller make sure it's 360 & not 1 etc. For right now the contract of compatibility is with micro-soft & x-box 360. U can check for updates on when the x-box 1 & play-station 4 or other brand names/versions will be accessible for usage ?

A big THANK YOU to The Blue Fighter for helping me get my Logitec 710 controller to cooperate with this cranky 8.1 desktop!!

The 710 is IMHO the superior choice between the two game controllers....having recently tried the xbox360 and found it to be less accurate at returning to center and not as smooth in maneuvers....

doesn't mean i fly or shoot any better yet tho!! I'm used to the yoke being on the right and throttle on the left.... like R/C airplane radios

I also use keys lol done it so long im used to it lol but would love to try xbox con 4 sure ...it would have to made head to head a lot easyer !!!!!
