(Edit: Zup just announced that "Team Chat" will be available in update 4.4.80 !)

This is my top request.

If we had the ability to chat in-game where only blues could see what you have written, there would be a far greater strategic element to the game.

Ideally there could be two chat buttons; one on either side of the chat window, one blue for "team only" chat and the other red for "all chat".

This would make many more tactical nuances possible in the game.

BTW, you seem to get many of the complaints about not being able to fly with friends from squads that use third party communications. That's how they know that they can't find someone else or a particular game.

If McFate and we wrote a while also
I hope that over time the zuper Can consegirlo, would be great for ambushes, team strategies and give the game massive attacks in which the team could intervene, and red not know (even better if translated) hehe.

Zello has been out for some time. I love how you assume that people using communication apps that don't take memory from the game only complain because of that app and can't find each other. Have you forgotten how little it is used to actually communicate in a game? Most of the time we bs and play less. People here on the forum wonder how the petty bs gets started when it's assumptions by people posting that start it, just saying.

It's not difficult to find squad mates when you have so many active members playing at any given time. Key word is active, coordinated with some who prefer to play with non istigating people.

Why so antagonistic? Zup might not know how we know that the other player is trying to connect in-game and not just unavailable. The comment made sense to me, and he didn't seem to be throwing attitude.

If being realistic is antagonistic in your interpretation, then maybe spoken word is the only reasonable solution where one can hear the influx of the vocal chords. Then decipher if the expressions are foul or fair.

"I love how you assume" just sounded more in-your-face than was necessary, especially given that the original post had none of that. From your response, it's clear you didn't intend it that way. As you say, written word has no intonations. My mistake then.

It's alright, bzerkbzerk is often a little sensitive. He has gone off on me before for imagined slights. Lol.

I added what I said because I saw posts where Zuperman was baffled why people would object to measures he was taking to reduce lag. I mean really, if you did not use a third party means of communication how would you know for certain that there were games going on and friends who you could not find?

Zup was saying that lag is increased and teams get uneven (two of the biggest all time complaints) because of people popping in and out of games. He came up with something that would help and was bombarded by complaints. I actually had an evening during the time when you could not switch games where Big*Joe and I were using Zello and yet were unable to find each other in any games though we tried for a couple of hours. If we had no outside communications it would have been easier to assume that it was just the luck of the draw.

I know first hand that many of the people who complained do use third party comms. Just the facts. I thought it was worthwhile for zup (or anyone who might wonder why it was such an obvious and emotional issue ) to know a part of the story that is not easily apparent.

BTW, what, exactly is your point in harping on our use of Zello, ooops i said that word! Are you trying to imply that we are doing something wrong? If not zello we could text message whatever we wanted each other to know. Would you then attempt to make something out of that? Who CARES! I would bet that you introduced zello to your NLR squad. If not, maybe you should! You are an officer, right? Anyway i would like you to quit sniping at our squad, over an outside communication app. Oh Hell lets just say zello, its a damn sight easier to type, and it is not the end of modern society.

Dear Misfits, and anyone else who cares:

I have never had a problem with anyone using Zello. The closest thing that I had to a problem with it was the way we (including myself when I was [*M]) kept it secret from our recruits and other members who not yet been found 'worthy' of their 'keys to the ace hole.' I respected the decision to keep it under lock and key because Foust was the one who had introduced it and it was his desire to keep it secret.

As someone who enjoys the strategic element of games I would have rather it been general knowledge in the world of dogfight so that all squads and players could be on even footing. Thinking back to the one time I remember the Misfits really making the most of Zello it proved to be a great strategic tool. It was the Squad vs Squad scrimmage against the DDs. If I remember right a team of Hulk, Mike, bz and ..( TR?) Very handily beat Whiplash and his team. The strategic element was how bzerk was able to sneak in and bomb several of their hangars. Using Zello to coordinate and let the others know to hold off on killing reds helped to let Bzerk to have a clear approach when he dropped in from high altitude. The DDs were soundly beaten, in my opinion largely because of 'our' strategy made possible by the outside communication. While it is true that the DDs used another 3rd party com (kik) they did not seem to have as much of a concerted strategy.

When I left the [M]s I spent a time checking out other com apps which Whiplash had set up and invited anyone to join. I found Zello to be the most effective mainly because it was voice in real time instead of a system that you had to record then the listener had to prompt the play back when they wanted to hear what had been said. I respected the Misfits secret and did not share it with the DDS or anyone else. When I joined the NLR I set up a channel and invited NLRs to join and asked that they make no mention of it in game or on the forum to respect the wishes of the Misfits. At on point another NLR saw a post made by Big*Joe (a former GI) who was testing Zello. I contacted Joe and we became friends and later squad mates. The NLR used it while Joe and I had the time to dedicate a lot of effort into the newly revamped squad. We had a lot of fun sometimes taking over servers with NLR just like the Misfits often do. Joe and I have both had major changes in our real lives make it so that we don't have as much time to dedicate to this game so we rarely use it now. Obviously when Ghost was briefly NLR we used it then and the rejects use it now.

I don't know how you guys came to think that I ever said that Zello caused lag. In fact the only criticism I ever saw of Zello was by Foust when he responded to someone's post about it. (First mention of the word 'zello' on the forums) Foust replied on the thread that it was a problematic app that would cause lag. Look it up if you want to.

Later when someone else mentioned it I responded along the lines of how such an app (I don't think I mentioned zello there either) could be useful. On one such thread buck geo got in on it and 'outed' all the df related zello channels he could find including the NLRs. Why you guys have it out for me is a complete mystery to me. I think my biggest 'offense' may have been when I said that you guys should relax and realize that the cat is out of the bag. I think is encouraged you to be more open about who you invite. I always thought that the secrecy was silly. I remember one night when I played a song on zello for Birdy, she posted about how she had enjoyed it. She layer told me that she was chastised for mentioning it on the thread. That kind of sucked but oh well, it was the M rules.

Recently zup had posted about how players switching games and sides contributes to imbalanced games and promotes lag. I mentioned 3rd party com apps being the means by which (not the cause) people knew there were other games going to and that other players were in other games. I know that zello does not cause lag. I did not ever say that it does.

The only time I've ever got down on the Misfits is when one is trash and trolling of someone. And in that case I have never blamed the Squad. I of nice mentioned that it would be great if you as a squad would discourage such behavior but some of you seemed to take that as an attack.

Enough time wasted. Be however you want to be. I got sick of being accused of other things by squad members a long time ago. If you're cool I'll be cool. I'm not the chronic dropper that some of you seem to think I am, I just defend it as a strategy. The whole game it's going to change with 'team chat' so I'm sure there will be much more for sensitive players to complain about. I'm going to play as I see fit and encourage others to do the same not because I have anything against anyone but because I want df to be played to its full potential.

sincerely.

McFate.

I never considered it a dictatorial position. I just didn't mention it out of respect for your wishes. The post you made about it being problematic had no palpable tone of jest. It actually looked like you were trying to discourage others from using it. I laughed it off really. It had nothing to do with me.
As for bzerk, I don't know what is going to set him off. Remember when I said that I thought he was "disillusioned" with dogfight one time when he was feeling down about how things were full of drama? I don't know how hot he took offense to that. Whatever. All water under the bridge. No need for trolls to take up residence there.

Yet, you felt the need to involve yourself anyway lmao. Anyway this is all old news and have grown very tired of it. See you in your parachute ;)

Lol. I'm not sure why you should think that I shouldn't "Involve" myself in a general forum thread about chat apps. (Note that I did not mention the Misfits in any of them). As for bzerks misunderstanding "disillusioned"? That happened on zello back when I was a Misfit.

If you want to hate just go for it. It is a war game. Just know that it's all in your heads.
