Just bought a joystick. Just wondered if anyone else uses them.
If so, does anyone have some tips? I got to tweak my settings because its over sensitive but fun.

You are lucky it works at all!! I just bought a new desktop Win8.1 and a logitec joystick.... the game doesn't recognize it and the joystick is only programmable on a 32bit system.... mine is 64....

otherwise try reducing your sensitivity in the settings....

Good luck!!

I have been playing with an aftermarket Xbox controller for a few months now, I had a Logitech before that. Both are just different enough from each other to force you to go through a relearning process...I played on keyboard up to about level 21. Can't go back...too hard!
I also have a flight simulator stick but I can't get the hang of it so I don't bother with that one.

I have my sensitivity all the way up, otherwise I find I get slaughtered in turn fighting...but whatever works for you.

Bear in mind also that since new update a few days ago, controlling pilot in parachute is almost impossible, that should be fixed pretty quick. Adjusting sensitivity won't change that until the fix... Didn't realize just how important chute kills are lol!
Bannerless and naked. Whatever...

I have the Logitec Extreme 3D pro.... The manufacturer hasn't updated support for the 64bit on screen interface so I have no way to program it to play the game.... It works very well on 'other' flying games that have in game programming adjustments available.... Those games don't have the overall enjoyment factor that DogFight does tho....

The second issue i have is if I plug the joystick into the 32bit touchscreen the game still only offers tilt or buttons, doesn't see the joystick....

I assume your gamepad and the MS controller are the same configuration as the xbox 360 controller where the yoke is on the left and the throttle on the right and no way to swap them.... that is backwards to the decades of R/C flying I've done and a hard reflex to retrain at this point....

True Nebulas..
To my knowledge, Win8.1 uses Xbox 360 joy sticks as it's primary controller for compatible usage. Any after mart controller should work as long as there's a xbox 360 compatible approval sticker lke logo on the device box.

You can download the 64bit gaming software from this site
support.logitech.com/en_us/product/extreme-3d-pro

In download section select Windows 8 and on right side scroll to select 32bit/64bit.
After downloading the software you have to program the each key of controller to work with Dogfight.
It will take some time to adjust. Hope you'll manage that. Do let me me know if you are unable to program the key. I have gamepad as well above joystick controller but using Logitech F710 gamepad which is compatable with DF and u just have to plug and play. No key mapping required in gamepad.

The best part is that it has option to program keys also for other games. it got X/D switch button. Just google above model and you'll get to know more details about the same.

If you can afford go for it, you'll find it very useful.

Happy Flying.

Thank You Blue Fighter!!

Going to check out that link now!!

There was a blurb somewhere on the logitec site that said they were still working on 64bit for some variations of 8.1....

It would be nice to be able to use what I already have but I'm ready to buy something else TODAY if it doesn't work....

:) :) :) :)

Hey guys, what's the latest on joysticks that work with a 64 bit windows 8.1 system?
I recently purchased a thrustmaster,no go...called the and they confirmed nothing they have works.
returned that.
just got a nice saitek st290 pro, looked promising as their site has drivers for windows 8.1/64 bit.
installed that,still no go!
called them, spoke with a knowledgeable tech, went through install again, didnt work. They felt it is on the developers end(Echoboom).
Returning that today...
Zup has mentioned he has tried different contollers with no prob but yet he doesnt give specifics, like operating system and joystick model...
Still nothing from logitech with windows 8.1/64 bit, just windows 8/64 bit.
I am going to look into that older model sidewinder Eagle mentioned, looks like windows 8.1 will automatically download the drivers but it's another trial an error..
I hope someone has had success with this! thanks all and look forward to some feedback!
My aerial banner will read "My joystick is not microsoft!"... ;)

The game does recognize 'controllers' like gaming pad type.... Xbox 360 will plug n play and BlueFighter helped me install an xbox driver for the Logitec 710 controller to make it work....

I still would like a JOYSTICK to work tho.... My Logitec Extreme 3D Pro is still a paperweight....

I've tried a few and they work but there is no standard so it's pretty much a trial and error thing. If you find a joystick that works post it here.

I have a few no-brand names that work fine. The thrustmasters seem to work (at least all 3 I tried) and the xbox controller that it's pc compatible also works fine.

The ouya controller works. The Google TV controller also works.

I can't remember any other right now.

Great thanks guys!
So I ordered the sidewinder, there are many different models over the years, some had the 15 pin vga style plug in and some of the newer ones had a 2.0 usb plug,I found decent one on ebay for $17 with the usb plug....we'll see how that flies...;)
Zuperman,were those on win 8.1?
Will post results soon.
-later...Temp.

mine seems to be a 64bit PC issue as it won't run the Logitec software for either the controller or joystick and no support from Logitec in site.... :(

i bought the wrong PC.... :pinch: :pinch: :pinch: :pinch:

I'll be looking for a thrustmasters to give it a try!! :cheer:
